*MASSIVE WIN FOR TEAM CHAIN DRIVE* Speaking of team...you should be very proud to be one of the BEST one-man teams on KZbin! When you get home, please go back to your (first one I think) front hub actuator video and read my comment. I'm a mechanic from the days when *every* accessory on cars were vacuum operated from the wipers to the headlight doors to HVAC controls, and I explain the simple, cheap, clean and reliable way to use engine vacuum to lock the hubs. So, I give this project a 9.985 out of 10 (-.01 for the hub actuators that WORKED! and -.005 for the creative use of red clay as a rust preventative coating) ha ha P.S. Watch the frame closely on the bumpy stuff video to see where to add gussets' before you paint.

Looks like without a doubt more impressive and capable than people were expecting. Based on your footage only thing I can so is that the suspension seems really soft and the rear especially was bottoming out everywhere. Otherwise really enjoyed following this project since the start!

There’s no diff. It’s literally solid bar stock. It would be interesting to see a different implemented into a build like this, but just because I want to see how he does it.

Desperately needs moon buggy style fenders. :)) Good work man, you built a really cool medium sized truck. edit: for the chain sections where the chain's too close, you could do what some of the guys in the recumbent bicycle world are doing. Essentially a wedge made out of PTFE that pivots off the center and keeps the chain apart regardless. The shape i most commonly see is akin to those scythe sharpening stones from back in the day.
@timothyobrien185010 ай бұрын
Wonderful, a master piece. None the less may is suggest front fenders of some sort.
@Beardest_Fishing10 ай бұрын
For stock out of the box, that suspension is not bad! Definitely needs stiffer springs, it got worse the more mud that got caked on. I’d maybe add a turn of compression on the front and maybe 2 in the rear along with the stiffer springs. Looks good and sounds even better.

Thats a great set of runs you had there, but I did notice something you may wish to address Chris, and thats putting boots over your shifter sticks etc to prevent gunk falling into the tunnel, other than that, FANTASTIC! I recall your complaining about the mirrors being useless, I can think of two options; First: Mudguards! Second: maybe using a rear camera mounted just below the rear roof frame and a dedicated monitor to allow "rear view" would help a bit?

Hi! First time commentator, but I have been watching this build from the beginning, very cool project. :) But I need to say, that your suspension is a bit off, specially rear one. I personally would adjust rebound a bit stiffer. At the moment suspension throws rear up from the bounces, I would slow down the rebound, compression seems quite ok, it catches rear quite good. Slower rebound would affect also how your nose dives down during landing from bump, as nose already starts to dive when rear gets its upward energy from bump and slower rebound compensates that with the mass of suspension arms and wheels. P.S. English is not my native language, I hope I was able to explain, what catch my eye from this video. :)

If I were you Chris I would re-mount the mirrors further up the post to the top of the same post not sure if they are clamped so you can just slide them up the tubes that would be an easy fix by the way the trophy truck is awesome you might want to put some windshields on it and some mudguards that way you will stay nice and clean lol that place sure was muddy but that's half the fun all the best from john from rugby UK.
