I lived in Australia for one year.. I literaly ate tacos 6 days per week 😂 Really miss this country. Beautiful gold coast! Such a great bike I will build my own cx500 cafe racer in the next weeks. Greetings from Berlin, Germany! :)

Yep!! I watched all your videos of this build, its easy to understand and you are going straight to point without too much chitchat which i like and most ytubers dont do. I am planning to build myself (on budget) Honda nx250 scrambler and i havent even ride motorcycle before. So the videos which you have uploaded are going thru most of the steps so big thanks sir!! Your cycle is really nice. Good luck and i'm waiting for more videos.

Great to hear a CX engine again...so nice! I commuted daily on CX500 Standards for many years - tens of thousands of miles! - in the SF Bay Area (US); I would beat them then rebuild as required. After parts dried up I'd buy donor bikes. The engines are quite easy to work on and except for a run of soft cams, never had a problem with reliability ... as I recollect, the redline was a bit above 10,000 and mine often lived close to that! Now retired ( and on a bit bigger shafty - '04 BMW R1150RT-P), you've got me thinking that might be a fun project...and I still have the factory engine tools...somewhere! Very cool!!

The CX engines always sound so nice... and how goods the view when you look down and see the cyl’s are poking their heads out from under the tank! I had a nightmare trying to fix the wiring on my old CX too, the wiring diagrams varied from models and years... from memory my biggest issue was the H P * switch and wires on the right controls... I ran a new slinky clutch cable through the bars, then between the radiator and underside of the tank to the engine and it was really smooth... seeing your vids makes me want to work on another CX... such awesome bikes once’s they’re running nicely
@CafeRacerGarage4 жыл бұрын
Yes they are fun bikes and sound awesome, you should definitely get another one to work on. what is the clutch cable you are referring to, If you are on my Instagram or FB page can you drop me a link in a message to the one you used :)

Love it. I have one request. I would like to see someone convert a twin rear shock set up to a monoshock. Why? Better ride and can add saddle bags and they sit flusher to the bike. I don’t mind about breaking cafe aesthetic rules, my W650 is somewhat a cross between flat tracker and cafe, but the rear shocks are terrible stock, and handling is never good. I ripped out the airbox so there is plenty of space for any monoshock fixing point. But I am gun shy to do it until I see someone with more experience have a go. Great build again.

Finally got caught up with the series! Great to see this bike pretty much finished. What you've achieved for $1200 (and a serious amount of graft) is outstanding. The attention to detail and taking that extra time and care really does make the difference. That exhaust sound is absolutely perfect, finding that little DB killer was a stroke of luck. What were the highs and the lows of the build? What made you start and continue with this build over the cb750? I'm considering getting a SOHC model myself.
