Love the words of encouragement. I bought a 1979 KZ750 Twin in about 15 boxes - completely torn apart - about a month ago. Tonight I was thinking, man I just wanna ride this thing! But I strated thinking about all of the cool little projects and corners of the bike that I get to learn about and I swelled with joy. I genuinely look forward to being on this journey. Projects like this are therapeutic in so many small ways. Thank you for doing what you do, my friend!

Since discovering this channel at the beginning of lockdown I started my own “budget” scrambler build, I spent 1k on a cb500 and I think once down £1,500 on parts and materials...was hoping to keep under 1k but to be fair I literally had a bare shed with one shelf to use a bench and a Halfords (Uk automotive store) wrench kit. loved ever minute though, thanks for the motivation to get off my arse and do something x

Nice roundup! For a budget bike the amount you've spent is a great outcome. Important to note is that by having some of the tools you have at home like a welder and grinder there is money saved but spent upfront when buying them. Thoughts I've had along some of my builds: - Get good foam and finish for the seat. It'll make you want to ride more and farther. - Get a good gauge. The cheap ones will eventually fail. - Rattle can job is ok if the idea is the just a rat bike. In my experience they don't last as well as proper automotive paint and make the bike look home made. I'm glad you haven't gone the m-unit route on this one. All it takes is some more understanding of how the wiring works and everything can be sorted and made neat without them. Keep it up with the great content! Even if it takes longer than usual! Cheers!

wow, i love your build from start to finish. i have built a cx almost paralel to yours and it took me 1,5 years. i used your methods for my bike too (like the hoop and the fiberglass seat pan.)i did it on two stages (two winters) and when i look at it now i am very satified with the result. i did learn some valuable lessons during the build, first one is exactly what you say in this video, dont fixate on the endresult and i did and because of that it was at time a very frustrating build. Also was my build about four times more expensive then yours which is way too much for a cx500 right now. In hindsight i could have done things very different but i learned alot, and if i do a new project i will aproach it from a very different angle.

Loved this build - had always had a fairly low opinion of the CX due to it's nickname amongst motorcycle couriers in the UK back in the day - "The Maggot". Your build and a couple of others here have show me that you should never judge a book by its cover. Looks good, sounds great, and looks to do the job nicely. As for the horn, I would always strongly recommend a Denali Soundbomb mini. The mini is a stock replacment - no compressor needed, and it is SUPER loud. I've had a number of drivers start to move over into my lane when I had my triumph street triple , but one blast of the DSBM and they literally swerve out of the way like a bomb has just gone off next to them!! Really excited to see the motogadget build, their equipment is really slick and clean. Would love to do a BMW R-9T build with their stuff one day. Keep making videos your way - this is a quality channel that puts out practical, intelligent, cool and clear videos. Thank you Dan!

Wow thank you brother that is fantastic information, i’m really grateful and inspired by what you said, in relation to the maggot yes I understand what you mean and I’m not a fan of some of the conversions that I’ve been done to these bikes and I definitely don’t like the look of them from factory but with a bit of an imagination and creativity you can make anything look good. I actually looked at those DSBM On eBay awhile ago and now that you recommended it I might get one or 2 of them 😮 Thank you for the amazing comment and have a great day

I've spent 2500+ on my 550, and there's still heaps I have to do - i still need to reupholster the seat, redo the electrics and switches. It all depends on what your starting bike needs and what you want the bike to be. I bought this bike because it was 500 dollars cheaper than another another one I was looking at which was complete, ended up spending 500 just on getting the original tank on the cheaper one, point is think carefully about where the bike is at and where your cafe project needs to be. I fucked up and didn't realise getting the original tank, seat and side covers again was almost 1k aud alone.

I would say if your doing a build do something on it every day. It might be a big job, or even just go and sit next to it with a cuppa tea or beer and spend time deciding what to do next. Break it down in to a hundred little jobs that way you are always achieving. Know your limitations and don't be afraid to ask for help from others then watch them and learn. Keep up the good work 👍

I'm getting ready to build what I'm calling a Kawasaki Intruder Street Boober Scrambler. I'm taking a frame and engine from a 1995 KLX 350 and putting the fuel tank, wheels, front suspension and lights/turn signals from a 99 Suzuki Intruder. I know... why not just use the Intruder and build a Cafe racer? Well I bought the Intruder from my buddy who bought it as a parts bike for the engine for his daughters Intruder and it has no title, at this point it would cost more to get a title and build it than it's worth. I'm going to strip it and then scrap the frame and I have a title for the 350 so why not build it into something cool plus it's not going to cost me much but some time and very little fab work and some paint, which I will probally just go with Tractor paint because it's cheap.

I definitely find the seat a perfect height for my height as I haven’t moved the foot pegs and it feels really comfortable to ride, Maybe that is because I’m a bit taller maybe that is because I’m a bit taller🤷‍♂️ in relation to the indicators. Daniel Foster 50 episodes on KZbin of this bike so I have no clue but i don’t count time as it’s not something I made to sell. It’s just for myself and sharing the process on how to for others to learn. To answer your question though I would say a lot
