First ride review of Yamaha's 2024 MT-09

Finally, the color MT-09 I want and someone reviewing it showing under the seat and how much space there is for storage!! THANK YOU!! That is important to me and nobody ever shows that. Im so glad to see I can fit my tire patch kit, mini portable inflator, paperwork and potentially even a small toolkit too. I always hope reviewers show the space under the seat. I was looking at Triumph but it seems they leave no room to spare under their seats. Kawasaki Z models have alot of space under their seat almost like a mini trunk. 😂 But im just happy to see that the 2024 MT-09 which is the bike im buying in April after winter, has enough storage space for my needs. Bravo!!

Awesome video! Funny, I have been thinking of purchasing one of these for my garage. Definitely the black one and the SP. Like you say , it ticks all the boxes. The headlight doesn't bother me. Beautiful bike. Best!

Go for a semi-high windshield, a tail tidy and and the Akra full system and you are good to go! Even more so if you get rid of the factory limitations and have the fuelling optimised by an experienced Pro - it will be „day and night“ - at least speaking for my 2020 RN43 which will be succeeded by the new gen4 SP 😅🔥🏁

@@SirMountainpass I don't see any windshields I like all that much for it. and I just don't like the look of the akra exhaust on this bike, though. It comes with an underside exhaust that's pretty big, but hidden. it seems like a shame to put a side can on it, but I admit it does sound the best IMO. I opted for an M4 exhaust and am waiting for it to arrive. Some nice mirrors to replace the ugly cheap stock ones would be nice, too.

For auto clipper down, check your settings. There is a selector for up and down (don't know why)... Great video, great bike!

Yeah, I've not yet found what the '1' and '2' options do for the QS (quick shift) up and down settings.

Great review. I like what you did with the daytime/nightime shots. The headlight looks to work well considering how small it is. I might test ride one, i do like to go touring but i don't like the looks of the Tracer.

just got mine. i quite like it. i will keep it for a while. i have owned over 17 bikes. This one definitely is interesting and put a smile on you bike. it’s so good. i have also order a 24 ducati monster SP no my 24 MT09 doesn’t blip when i downshift. mine 2024 zx4rr does blip and auto rev match which gives you a Dual clutch super car feel

Would you prefer this over a trident 660 if ignoring power output. The 2025 trident has same ergonomics, imu, quicksfiter, nav. Keen to know your thoughts as i narrowed to these 2 bike.

Apologise for the late response, been away and my dog died😢. I really liked the MT09 and the 660 was great too. I would ride both back to back if possible. Not sure about insurance groups etc, ie which one would be cheaper to insure. If I had to put my money on one......MT09.

Dunno as a 2023 owner of mt09 i sat earlier on the new model, but i really dont like the new seating position. Though the iron man mask looks much better then the slids also the dash is much better with this year

"All TC settings will reactivate when you turn the bike off and on again". Don't think that's true, it remembers your choice and keeps it? And the ABS is the other way around, you can turn off the corner ABS, not the normal ABS.

Hi, when you switch the TC off, it turns everything off, I did it and it resets back to the factory default, "safe" setting when you switch it back on again. I guess they don't want to be sued as someone jumps on the demonstration bike and gets killed because all safety aids were switched off by the previous test rider. yes you are correct about the abs , the mt's manual didn't make it clear, but strangely the tracer 9 GT+ which I am taking out this week, does make it clear, just as you rightly pointed out. I have it since early April. It is amazing! Had CBR650R and it was boring compared to MT09. And it does gymkhana very well too

Just did demo day and I agree get mt09 if you plan to do any riding in city mt10 gearing is unusable for commuting

If you were to choose between this and the suzuki 8R, which would you pick. As a commuter 100km daily. Touring every 3 months?

Hi. Thats a tough call as both very good bikes. The Suzuki has the low down torque so you can be lazy with the gears and the Yamaha has that top end rush. My money would be the MT-09 SP. I would get one tomorrow but my wife would go nuts at me! Test ride them both if possible, some times dealers have clients who may consider lending you their bike for a hour if you are serious about buying a bike and they haven't got a demo bike in stock. I did exactly that when I got my KTM 890 Duke . Both Suzuki and Yamaha are great bikes with cheaper insurance than the big stuff(I think) with almost as much giggle factor. Ride safe.

Just tested one out on the street, and it has a horrible lag in the second gear! Other than that, the bike feels like a proper street fighter! I would never buy this bike for a long trip!

Is second gear 'dumbed down' until you put it in 'sport' mode and remove traction and lift controls?

@@firehouse6226 Nah, even in sport it's pretty weak compared to 1st and 3rd. I haven't tried with turning off traction control though, because I didn't think that'd make a difference. I might give it a shot, but I think I might have to have the ECU flashed by a proper tuner to get the throttle response in second fixed. I think 2WDW said that first and second can't go above 65% or 85% throttle in those gears or something.

Gen 3 sucks! That gas tank is just ugly and the ride position is awfull.
