The finished bike has been delivered and the final stage of this project is now here!
In this third instalment of the build series, Dutch, the new proud owner of this custom Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 takes us through the usual walkthrough of the modifications and features of the bike. However, we also strapped cameras and microphones to it and him to take you on the first ride around east London, and captured his genuine first ride impressions which were (spoiler alert) that he is thrilled to bits.
Special thanks to Royal Enfield for their collaboration on this special project and great addition to the BSMC staff bike fleet!

S&S Cycles 2 into 1 exhaust system, 16 inch. Wheels and Shocks bbuilt y Hagon, Speedo and Bar-End Indies by Moto Gadget, Bars, Gaitors by Baak Motorcycles, Tyres at Avon Cobrag Chromes. I'd go to Canyon Cycles in LA for wheels, and then S&S make loads of performance parts, and then look at Baak for the bars and other cosmetics.

It's very chip resistant and comes in loads of colours and finishes. It's just better than powder coating etc in every way. Love it. It's even available as a DIY thing. Urban Pratt! More like, that front tyre must be the same size as the rear! It'll handle like a blind pig, no fun on the road, you say it goes round corners, it would go round a lot easier with a smaller width, you guys just like a fat front tyre, you're all about the looks over anything else😁

Thank you for your honesty @steve Williams. I’ve said something similar above, but as succinctly. These ridiculous things will go out of fashion eventually just as all daft ideas do, and those that follow trends will move onto the next fad. I’m reminded of what Steve Jobs said about Microsoft. It’s the most amazing indictment of crass vulgarity ever. Check it out if you haven’t seen it. Peace

Wow you guys need to relax. Motorcycles are about a lot more than pure performance. Try telling a guy who loves his Landrover Defender that it needs a supercharged V12 and some low pofile tyres on 16inch rims and woud go atround corners better if it was lowered. Also, have you ridden this bike, or any other with the same wheels or tyres? ... Part of biking culture (for me) is to celebrate individuality and enjoyment, and we should all support each other, however we choose to do it. Biking is already a dying niche activity that many in power would love to see taken away from us as a dangerous, selfish indulgence. Throwing stones at others who do it slightly different to you is a waste of energy and just makes you looko like a petty troll. As for being fashionable, who cares?Wings are now fashionable on sportsbikes thans to motoGP, everyone on a huge adventure bike is enjoying the Long Way Round/Down/Up fashion. It's irrelevant if it gets people onto two wheels and preserves our right to ride and our culture.

@@dutchvansomeren9943 I agree with you, but I think you will always get some strong differences of opinion, even amongst us bikers, no harm in saying it could be better if.. We should all stick together, I certainly agree with that. @G58
@G58 4 жыл бұрын
Dutch Van Someren It’s called being an individual and having an opinion, something we are allowed to be and do. We don’t need to be told to relax, any more than we need to support each other. That’s just namby pamby snowflake nonsense designed to protect vulnerable members of society. You appear to be making a case for motorcyclists to be treated like LBGTQ rainbow farting professional victims. I not only do not agree, I believe that your type of thinking degrades biking, and only reinforces a whole new stereotype. I started biking in 1974. All my mates had FS1Es, SS50s or one of the hotter Italian Gileras etc. I had a Honda C50, and EVERYONE, (including the guy who had his granddad’s Yamaha step through C50 copy) mocked me mercilessly every day at work. Then one day I won a race against a fatboy on a fizzer! But I only just won. So I started playing around with the carb, timing, cylinder head inlet, and exhaust ports. I widened and polished the outlets, cleaned up the inlets. I made a new wider exhaust downpipe, and heavily modified the silencer. I gained about 8mph, which was enough to shut everyone up on the road, but it was still a ‘granddad bike’. Did those criticisms harm me? No of course not. Did I look for ‘support’ from fellow bikers? No, the fucking phrase hadn’t even been invented. If someone tells me today that they don’t like my bike, I thank them for their honesty. I respect integrity. I’m sick of this ‘support’ nonsense. Grow up.

@@michaelhayward7572 - In most of the U.S., lane-splitting is considered cheating and disorderly/unsafe. Only is recent years has it been made legal in California. But California DMV literature and riding classes point out that doing so at high speed and/or with large speed differences is unsafe.

I was forced to lane split in Oakville in a way that still, 32 years later, purses my sphincter when I think of it. I'd ridden across from the west coast over a period of weeks on my '74 Z900, which by then had sub optimal brakes and tyres. It had been raining all the way from the border and now was bouncing. I approached a multi lane stop junction and applied the brakes. Nothing happened - the back tyre locked and slid and I maintained speed and direction, either into the stationary traffic or between the lanes and across the red lit junction. And that's what i did, weaving to avoid cross traffic. The question remains - is that technically 'splitting'?

Awesome looking bike!! I wouldn't mind one in maroon and cream! Wouldn't want to ride in London though- there's plenty of back roads here in Florida.

Re-think the indicator lights - the right turn indicator can't be seen by someone on your front left, and the left indicator can't be seen by someone on your front right. And the stop light is not big enough to say "STOP!". Just because something can be seen does NOT mean that it will be understood.

What a beautiful bike. Definitely a head turner. Most importantly, where do I get the flask and cup set? Searching everywhere for it.

Dude how I miss London. I should have visited the Bike Shed before the Covid crisis. Damn it. Fuckin' hell. This place looks epic. Just like the bike. Keep up the excellent quality content guys. Greetings from Germany

The S & S exhaust is a welcome upgrade though a tad loud for my liking.

Loving those balloon tyres! Not sure about that front mud guard, either needs to be longer or removed completely.

Not for how I ride, and not illegal. I like to look back. You get the full 180 degree sweep.

Dutch Van Someren I like to always look back too. But I find mirrors super helpful for keeping a peripheral eye behind me. Especially stopped at traffic lights; I like to watch the cars approaching behind me (sometimes pumping my brakes so the rear light flashes) just to ensure I’m not accidentally rear ended. I like the no mirror look, but Id have to go for function over form.

Stunning bike ,well thought out , lucky if it surveys a month ridden the way you do ,but the streets are quiet through lock down ,so it may be just a freedom thing . Well done .

Nice little reinterpretation of the Interceptor without going overboard. I'd want to lose that "Open in Case of Emergency" blurb on the side panel as an open invitation to pilferers, and would prefer a few tools instead of some hooch in a fancy fanny pack, but I get the joke. The cartoonishly fat tires are nice, and I'd hope the size(s) are readily available in the future and not cost too much, having been spoiled by the 50 quid Dunlops on my old Bullet. Speaking of which, the headlamp casquette is cute, and seems like a stylistic tip o' the hat to those found on its elder Bullet sibling. I'd have taken it just a step further with a couple of those little marker or "pilot lamps" found on the Bullets...just 'cause I like them. But, what you've come up with is very tidy indeed. Carry on!

Yes, that text is too explicit to be clever or funny. And someone is liable to break in and leave a message in spray paint or Magic Marker saying: "Done!". At most, it should simply say in block letters: "EXIT".
