Yes it has a real presence in the tower and when you consider what a bucket it was it's amazing. Superb tuning job!

@@fredmills368 there's a video of them before on my channel. Very oddstruck and not well in tune with each other, tenor was quite harsh toned.

Great to see the bells in action after rehanging

+Martin Hatfield It is great to have them back and much improved! Dedication is on May 1st if anyone wants to come along and ring then.

This ist interesting so see them not being rung in concert. It reminds me a liitle of bellringing in south tyrol.
@timmeh15078 жыл бұрын
+Glockenfampf This is normal bellringing for England and Wales, most churches here have bells hung for this kind of ringing.

Ringer Tim he was talking about when they were ringing up, it sounded like European bells. It was nice to hear them that way

Bells are such amazing technology/ engineering/ craftsmanship. I hate that they can only be found in the old world. Bell towers should be in every city all over the world.

+simonbellringer They are very much improved although the ringing chamber acoustics need some work. The bells sound very grand down there now and seem to have a lot more resonance than they did before. Outside is also much improved and of course the go and striking is now excellent :) Visit on a quarter day sometime?

he was talking about how close the stay gets to the frame

That’s really Close
@RingerPeter3 жыл бұрын
At Romsey Abbey a small section of a beam which went over the tenor at an angle had to be cut out to let the stay pass the beam with out hitting it. And it only just fits through.
@RingerPeter3 жыл бұрын
no I think they fitted the stay but then just cut the section of the beam out

Interesting bells according to Dove 1 2 and 8 are Mears 1906 but one and two had canons but 8 was a flat top. Now that is strange why 1 and 2 had Canons
@fredmills3683 жыл бұрын
maybe cheaper to cast big one whithout cannons?
@adamm26937 ай бұрын
I've been told that the canons sometimes appear on smaller bells to help their speed and physics, i.e. to bring the bell down further.
@Steven_Rowe7 ай бұрын
@adamm2693 very are plenty of small bells without Canons, no bell founder in the UK would have used them since the 19th century.
@adamm26937 ай бұрын
@@Steven_Rowe really? Taylors did that with a lot of their bells, most notably at Exeter (1922) and York (1925) which had button tops, I always believed this to be related to the go, speed and hanging technique of the trebles.
