First run with Vox AC30 CC2.

About 8 years ago I looked into these amps, but was told by friends to ditch the idea and go for a 90s reissue. More recently, I decided to try one and let me just say, I prefer this amp to the 90s tb I had before. This is the best tone I’ve ever had for U2. This amp slays. And I got it for 600 bucks. Moral of the story, play what you like. And if it’s cheap and sounds amazing, even better.

...still have mine and still like it.Did you ever mess with output bias or smoothing switches in back?They tighten up or soften/compress the sound depending on selection.How about tube selection and speaker swapping?On mine I swapped the 100k plate resistors (1st gain stages) to 160k for a little more compression/dirt.Original AC30's had 220k plate resistors and broke up more,were more compressed than modern versions.I also run a Celestion Blue and Mojotone's version of a Greenback (better than the Celestion Greenback imo)I'm more into 1940's amps now.LOVE the warm fuzzy overdrive they produce.My tonal preference was more chimey like you but since I'm doing lots of finger picking now I love how the really old amps respond,how they bark.Good luck tone chasing.

Sounds perfect. With the right circuit mods (only a few components), the cc is veeeeery good ac30. The wharfedales are good.

I just traded a 40 year-old Yamaha Super Axe guitar for one of these yesterday. I'll need to wait for the wife to be out of the house to really give it a run. I gotta say.... seeing your video has me anxious to see if I can find your tone. Maybe you could share your settings because these have so many switches and settings (front and back)? Every cc2 has the wharfedale speakers. The cc2x has the blue's.
