It’s an amazing movie. I wouldn’t say it’s groundbreaking by any means, but the storytelling made me shed a tear and really offers an open ended question on the concept of consciousness and the future of AI. For a band, Die Antwoorten’s acting chops were pretty good, especially how caring Yolandi’s character was with Chappie. I doubt there’s gonna be a sequel or spin off, which is a shame, since I’d really like to see not Deon and Chappie finding bot Yolandi and reuniting with the grieving Ninja.

Okay so I might be the odd one out here but I really feel like they messed up some things about this movie and I feel like they could have turned it into something amazing.. I loved the concept, and especially on the end when the creator dude transfers his conscience into a robot, i feel like they did an amazing job of showing what that'd be like. And the idea of chappie was great but the whole being raised by die antwood thing was tacky.. But what ruined it for me was the whole 'government is after this robot cause its new technology therefor we must destroy it or take it for ourselves' I feel like it was a forced antagonist and the whole evil government cliche is so overused. I understand that a movie needs antagonists, i certainly don't have any better ideas, but I hated this movie because of it, that and the fact die antwood, they are hilariously bad thugs. I think I dislike it so much because I was in love with the technology side of the movies concepts, and i was expecting something more advanced and I feel like instead of being something that potentially could have been unique and one of a kind, it was reduced to a run-of-the-mill movie plot that was frankly just garbage.. No hate to any of you for loving the movie. It's been so long since I've seen it, i dont remember it super well anymore so I can't debate it any more, I just remember being really upset.
