You had already reset the interval. IT said 15,900km until next service. You lucky it was a 4 cylinder. The V6's hold 8.5 quarts. By the way, ECS tuning had the Mann filter for $10US. Porsche was $20US. And I love the under panels, My S5 had 20 fasteners. Fun.

There was 2 interval the oil change interval and the one that isn't due yet I assume is the major. That was showing 15,900 remaining

You’ll want to use Porsche specific C20 0w20 oil in that 2.0 engine. And yes you’re right, it’s a VW engine. There’s an equivalent VW oil spec that you can use also. Pennzoil 0w20 definitely isn’t C20 so you may want to consider changing the oil sooner than before
@judih.8754 Жыл бұрын
There is an oil spec that applies to many makes and models of European cars.

agree, My Macan S calls for Porsche C30 specification and Pennzoil does make a Platinum Euro LX oil that has the C30 specification.

I wonder what Porsche will say, during warranty repair attempts, about DIY oil changes...?
@gpaje Жыл бұрын
My dealership said it's fine if you keep the receipts for the oil and filter. The oil must meet the oil requirements, in this case Porsche C20 or VW 508 certification, log the date and mileage when the oil change was done.

You're supposed to use oil meeting 0W-20 AND Porsche C20 spec. So you should be using something like Mobil 1 ESPx2 0W-20. That has the Porsche C20 approval (and is dyed green, that's how you can tell if the oil meets the required spec). People usually only pay attention to the "0W-20" and ignore the "Porsche C20" approval on the sticker in the engine bay. It takes more than just the correct viscosity for an oil to be the correct oil for the vehicle. The specific approval requires the correct additive package to be present in the oil in order to protect the engine from issues like low-speed pre-ignition, and to protect the emission control system. Should the vehicle require repairs under warranty, the dealership will test the oil to check for the presence of the UV sensitive dye I mentioned earlier. If it is not there, they can deny coverage. Just use the correct oil next oil change. It's only $27.97 for a 5 quart jug at Walmart, so price is not an excuse.

Please tell your sister NEVER to do 15,000km oil changes. They're never a good idea. The car care nut explained it in one of his videos of a Toyota that was doing 15,000km oil changing needing an early engine replacement due to it.

WHY are you being CHEAP and NOT using the CORRECT OIL which is Mobil1 per the manf espicially during the warr period, not to mention the a/m filter??????????????????? Dude, the oem rec does NOT cost that much more, USE the CORRECT stuff!!!!!!!!!!!
@brucewillson38545 ай бұрын
Mobil 1 is decent oil at best… there’s multiple reasons manufacturers choose a certain type of oil for their vehicles. Not a single one of those reasons is how good the oil is at lubricating. Pennzoil ultra platinum is better than Mobil 1 (BY FAR) BUT I wouldn’t use that or Mobil 1 in any of my cars. There are multiple KZbin channels that are dedicated to testing lubricants and I will tell you right now Amsoil and Motul are the best in the game.. And! if you can get amsoil at what they call the “preffered price” it’s almost the same price as Mobil 1. Edit: spelling

@@brucewillson3854 you’re missing the point!! During warranty porsche is known to deny failure if they test and find you have failed to follow their recommended parts/whatever… why take the chance during that period??? Afterwards do as you want…
@gregsmith3325 ай бұрын
It's for the same reason why he not didn't torque the filter housing to spec and reuse the one-time use drain bolt: he's cheap and lazy. He's supposed to use Porsche C40 certified oil, but he used regular Platinum instead. If something goes wrong with the engine, Volkswagen will do a oil analysis and will find out that he using uncertified oil.
@brucewillson38543 ай бұрын
@@meseahuntI would be willing to bet that’s dependent on which Porsche dealer you’re working with. Most of them allow aftermarket bolt on’s and tuning without voiding the powertrain warranty so I’m not sure why they would deny a claim for using higher quality oil. From my experience the dealer just wants records/receipts to prove you have changed it regularly
@meseahunt3 ай бұрын
@@brucewillson3854 point being WHY take the chance during the warranty period and WHY put a claim decision in the hands of a service manager who doesn’t care about YOUR situation… when the manf sticks a decal in your engine bay saying use this type of oil, then just use it to avoid problems explaining why you didn’t…. This vehicle brand doesn’t make recommendations without the proof to back it up…
