My local dealer the labor rate is 180 dollars an hour.....seriously thinking I am doing the services myself. They will try to tell you that it voids the warranty, but that is pure BS. If they tell you that, tell them to give it to you in writing so you can refer to the Magnussen/Moss act and slap them. 180 an hour is simply INSANE...yeah I get the dealerships need to stay in business, but I am not paying someone working as a mechanic the same rate I would pay my family doctor or lawyer who went to college for 8 years....for something as simple as an oil change and checking some bolts...

@windyrun7979 Жыл бұрын
Are you thinking of replacing the SFV4 with a Tuono?
@valdemar7986 Жыл бұрын
these bikes aren’t easy to work on. oil change takes a lot of time due to the way this engine is built. hence, the overfill. your chain is too tight. yes, it is within the specs but once you sit on it it gets even tighter which can potentially damage your gearbox. the first service, unfortunately, is needed. when you first start riding your bike, the ECU collects a lot of data and does all sorts of stuff, hence you need to have that checked against Dicati’s database and possibly update the software. Also, you should somehow get rid of that oil change light, right? your battery should hold two weeks easily. in case it does not, there might be something else. to check it, leave your bike for a week without charging the battery and check the charge before you start the bike. the charge is expected to be at 12.7 or higher. if it is and you keep getting those start issues, there might be something else you might want to talk to your dealer about.
@d.magnus425 Жыл бұрын
I agree that first is needed, which is why I took my bike in. My only issue was the time that they claimed to need for first service as none of the stuff that they were doing should take that long. Changing the oil on the SFV4 is not difficult. The oil only difference between this bike and others is that the oil filter is not like a traditional filter as it is located at the bottom of the bike inside of the oil pan. I changed the oil myself after I changed the engine casing and it only took me like 25 minutes at the most. Removing the service light should not take more than 20 minutes (depending on the speed of ECU reader/computer) as all that is required is the tech running the bike's ECU through a computer and looking for potential faults and then removing the light. Also, the tech actually readjusted the chain as he said that is was not as tight or at spec, but I followed the Ducati manual so idk. I have not had any issues with my gear box. Now the battery on the other hand had to be replaced because I was started to get issues with starting even after keeping the bike on a charger when not riding.
@scortch71872 жыл бұрын
I'm curious if you can do all the required services yourself (oil, chain, fluids, etc) then go to the dealer and just ask to get the service light and codes cleared or updated? They might get pissy about it but like, what would it cost?
@d.magnus4252 жыл бұрын
Don't quote me on this but, I think they still charge you a ton just to take the light off unless you have a good relationship with the dealer.

Sorry about the late response. I put the slip on and tune on the bike after the first service because the exhaust just happened to come in after my appointment. However, depending on your dealer, I do not think they will have an issue with the exhaust but the tune maybe a different story.

@@TrigunV4S I put the exhaust on after my first service. All other maintenance I have done myself (oil changes etc.) so I haven't been back to the dealer since.
