What’s the final verdict on being TRULY waterproof?

Iv been caught in one decent rain storm we didn’t get wet. That said if you take it out any think it’s gonna rain hard dig a trench all the way around the tent like a gutter and have the low point open to drain the water. That should help keep rain from running under the tent
