We had our first snowfall of the year at our off grid cabin in the woods. I’ve also started peeling logs for the new log cabin build. #diy #homestead #outdoors

I'm in London right now. I was explaining your channel to someone on The Tube (The Elizabeth Line and not The Piccadilly Line). They thought that I was Canadian (I'm Minnesotan too). They wanted to know more about where I lived. I told them to just watch your channel. "We have wolves too...!"

For moving the logs get a plastic barrel and cut in half and put a hole in the bottom end to run strap or chain through so log won't dig into the ground and just pull them. Easy pesy
@timclark75077 ай бұрын
Seeing you peeling the logs triggered memories for me. I had summer jobs in woodyards peeling cedar and spruce. Some of it was piecework where you were paid 30 to 35 cents per log depending on the size. Made me appreciate what a “hard” job is and the value of a dollar.

Oh to have just 40 years back! I would have enjoyed a turn like yours for my wife and I. Still, enjoying this vicariously through you guys is great! I really have no regrets with the path our lives have taken. We used to go up there along Highway 61 to Two Harbors, Baptism River, Gooseberry Falls and dipped for smelt where the waters ran into Superior - and we've enjoyed stays at the Burntside Resort south and west of Ely. We also enjoyed the BWCA at Sawbill Lake and Kawishiwi. We're happy and comfortable and debt free as well and my daily driver is a 1998 Ford Explorer (w/ stage 2 cancer, lol) and our backup is a pristine 2000 Ford Taurus we bought new in 2001 and it has only 74k miles on it and is presently now in storage for the winter here on our humble acreage in Northeast Iowa. I believe we'll get up there another time or two to enjoy the loons!

And love seeing the fire in the woodstove. I always liked the heat from a woodstove. I even enjoy seeing the pile of wood. I enjoy all of your videos I don’t care what the subject is. I look forward to your new cabin construction. You are such a hard worker! I hope you get a deer while at Deer Camp. The end of your video was beautiful as the sun was setting. Maybe get a longer, narrower funnel for fueling up the 4-wheeler. That style should stay in place when you put the end into the gas tank, still allowing you both hands to hold the gas can with. The shorter, stubbier funnel would probably fall out of place when the gas hits it. Also, the tread is putting in the wrong direction on your 4-wheeler's rear tires. Just swap the left and right rear wheels side to side and you'll be good.

Such a tranquil scene. I love the silence of falling snow and the smell of winter. Thanks for Sharing Kyle. I rescued 6 hens from a caged farm. the first time they saw daylight was similar. They still don't particularly like rain or wind, I can't wait to see what they think of the snow if we get any. one or 2 are still quite bald unforunately. but they have a heated shed lol
