Sounds good. Can’t say I’ve ever forgotten the rear main seal.... yet lol Just finishing up my 2054 and should be firing it up soon. Another 74 stroke on the road.
@Mikefngarage4 жыл бұрын
yea we have seen other guys do that but never done it before. he hung the seal up to make sure we didnt damge it so it was not on the build table. Forgot about it the next day. the build table usually helps you not to forget stuff but when he hung it up he though it was in the case. Nope. that was the second machine shop run and 3rd parts run just for that end play. Sometimes they are easy sometime they suck.

Sounds good! It didn't come apart in the first 2 min. It should run a long time. In the last 25 years I've had 1 VW lock up solid in first 30sec, align bore on brand new case was off ( I didn't build the engine) and a second 1 grenaded in first minute.. put a nice skylight in the case.. I'm pretty sure I forgot to tighten a rod, but I was a teenager and knew everything..
@Mikefngarage4 жыл бұрын
I remember a long time ago when the line bore machine went off. and the engines would last about 400 miles then seize. we got about 4 or 5 engines that came back. Just barely off. My old boss and friend was about done after that but he came back after a while.

all new engines with a new cam v8s too need to do the same. yes sir.
@jimmywilkinson91904 жыл бұрын
In the 60s and 70s I never heard of breaking in the cam . what we did was have every thing set and push start them and drove around and set the rings by bogging them in 3rd gear below 50. That was the issue.Back then I never seen the way now a cam will shear off the lobe in 3,000 miles. I guess now 2 things are issues is cams and valve seats. Now I have seen seats pounded by guys putting heavy racing springs on street motors. Probably caused by NO LEAD. Some times you have to take em apart a few times.
@Mikefngarage4 жыл бұрын
yea right on Jimmy. I dont like the dual springs for that reason. single high rev is good enough. even stock springs are decent for about 5k rpm or so depending on the cam lift.

The problem now is most oils do not have zinc in them
@jimmywilkinson91904 жыл бұрын
@@bondovwvw In the 80s we used Exxon Superflow from Autoshack .69 cents never had a breakin problem ? Now in 2003 Mt friend Joe boy built a 327 and he got talked into putting racing springs on a .480 lift cam . the Machine shop talked him into it . At 3,000 miles it was back firing and some of the rocker arms did not move! Casto oil did not warn nobody about removing the zinc. It was nation wide = cam lobe failure

Why didn't you use a vacume advance dizzy.
@Mikefngarage4 жыл бұрын
I dont have one around plus when you put a vacuum advance it can mask the jetting issues on that carb. Lots of people use them on the progressive because it masks the jetting issue. if the jetting is correct it will not have a dead spot with either distributor.

were figuring it is near 100hp with a little less torque than the 2007. which it is a 1904. The 2007 in the bulletproof build has lots of room for more HP in the build. Just needs more carburation. this one could use more but what is there should be perfect combo for what its going in.
