First Steps to Lobbying - Panel

Wanting to make your voice heard with lawmakers and policymakers, but unsure where to begin? The advocates on this panel will share their own early experiences and discuss lobbying basics such as having a clear message, whom to contact, best approaches, and do's and don'ts for lobbying as an impacted person (registrant or family member.)
Moderator Brenda Jones has been lobbying as a Maryland citizen since 2010.
Dwayne Daughtry is executive director of NCRSOL. Dwayne has been a legislative liaison since 1993 including LGBT rights, veterans issues, and animal rights issues.
David Mayer began contacting lawmakers when he lived in Illinois, and plans to continue now that he is in Oregon.
Tim Sankey is a board member of Texas Voices that advocates for members by promoting common sense legislation at a state and local level.
