Caitlin Clark's whole life really is why she stays off social media... she still reads it but not like young adults constantly reading it. In high school she was chanted at by other schools that she is Over rated. She keeps her circle of small of people she knows she can trust. She has had to have tough skin. If she gets mad on the court I think it is her release. To me she is almost like a trauma patient with a deep love of sports. I admire and respect Caitlin Clark for not talking about all the online abuse she has endured and why she has had to have a body guard.

It's perplexing to consider the rationale of someone who, despite being repeatedly targeted on social media, chooses to continue engaging in such interactions, while also having a scapegoat at the ready to blame. It's crucial that there is substantial evidence to back up these claims. Differentiating between fan groups poses a challenge: did they specify if they were Caitlin Clark/Fever fans, Aces fans, or Liberty fans? Or could they just be "TROLLS?" I don't know what sporting planet Chiney Ogwumike has been living on but on the one I live on fans are a holes all the time and to everyone and on any topic. I remember when Michael Irvin laid motionless on the field at Veterans Stadium and Philly fans were chanting ''die Michael die.'' Racism sucks but it is not Caitlin's fault. I feel though like Ogwumike and Thomas and others want to pin this issue on Caitlin and its unfair. She has nothing to do with this and does not encourage it and it is not limited to her fans and her opponents. One could easily argue that several ESPN talking heads who have said Caitlin's popularity has been due in part to the color of her skin have helped create this environment. If ESPN wants to do something about this they could ban comments on all WNBA stories and on stories where fans might comment about Clark or say racist things. The truth is there are few actions that can be taken to end this. The league can preach against it. It's not going to matter now anymore than it would have in Philly.

Trolls made AI pictures of Caitlin Clark naked. In college trolls constantly said Caitlin was a man and they would show her with an adam's apple. That NFL player said she was hairy down there and went fof weeks writing obscene things about her. People posted pictures of Caitlin in the shower. There are trolls in all fan groups. The two Chicago Sky players cried in a press conference that Chicabo Sky fans and Angel fans were attacking them. This is a world wide social media problem not just an Indiana Fever problem. DiJonai Carrington goes on social media and writes hateful things but cannot take it when people write back. She needs to take her own Coach Whites advise and just stay off social media. The more you write and stir people up it becomes like she is a mean girl in high school and the fighting grows. Just delete and block the people you do not want to see their posts. Players want to look like they have tons if followers but they need to delete the haters or completely stay of social media... ther is more to do in life.

You can’t separate Americans from racism. It’s unfortunate but a lot of the attention that the WNBA got this season was a result of the Murrican desire to constantly prop up the next great white hype while simultaneously disregarding the achievements of all of the black athletes that came before them, or who are actively competing against them. To act as if racism wasn’t a major contributing factor to the attention these women got this season is delusional. Caitlin Clarke and Angel Reese are really good basketball players, but how often do you hear anyone online or in the media actually talking about their skills and what they do as athletes on the basketball court? Not often, because Murricans love to be racist and most of us are driven by sensationalism. It’s a shame.

I think it's cowardly to wait until they beat the Fever get on stage and make it seem like it's always "caitlin clark fans" spewing hate as she basically tip toes around saying (badly). Ppl need to realize that bad fans popping up amungst the majority good fanbase is part of what happens when a small league experiences exponential growth, and complaining about it over and over again and basically saying its from one person's influence is not gonna solve anything. They want CC so bad to fall in line and denounce publically these guys for them its so obvious, even though she's never endorsed that behavior to begin with. Imagine what LBJ gets for missing a game winner most of his career for example, a lot of ppl make thier living clowning him in the media, but that's part of the arena you put yourself in as an athlete, and you have to accept that, even if you dont like it. Most of it is on social media anyways, which makes it easy to avoid (block, don't respond, get off social media) but these women don't do that and fan the flames even more.

Resolving this issue could be straightforward: establish a response system akin to "Co-Pilot" that one must navigate to interact with others online. If a message is deemed offensive, it would be rejected, requiring the author to revise or delete their statement before sending it to strangers. Additionally, all messages should carry a warning: "YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT YOU SAY...SO BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR WORDS!" Remember, your words could have serious consequences or land you behind bars!

Gag! Nothing could be further from the truth! This situation has nothing to do with race and everything to do with bullies beating up a player. There have been at least 10 brutal cheap shots against Caitlin. We all saw it. You can’t deny it even though you are trying to! They say, “Oh, it was an accident!” …..barf, 🤮😳😡Makes me sick!

“Keep the same energy” . . . Sorry. CC out of the playoffs removes at least 2 million fans. WNBA still boring.

How do you know it was Fever fan base? Tell the ones that’s calling you names… don’t blame it on fans! Or! Don’t let a comment make you mad! It’s social media!! Block em and go on!

Sure. It's the people that are being insulted by online loser's fault. I bet I can guess what your hobby is.

If Clark was any other ethnicity she would not have got the same hype or fan base support

Maybe, but she's just an interesting figure. Honestly, I never watched a WNBA game until she entered the league. If she left I would stop watching. You see the same boring ladies, and that's an honest opinion.
@samhugh49653 ай бұрын
No, it’s because she’s fun to watch; her game is more akin to the men’s game. There are plenty of white players in the WNBA that didn’t garner her attention and it’s because they’re boring to watch.

It's because those "others" play boring basketball. They have for years. That's why nobody watched. Nothing interesting in "fundamental" basketball. NBA players have suggested changes for years. It only changed when they got a player with Steph Curry's shooting range and prowess, with Steve Nash's passing ability. She was actually compared to NBA players, not WNBA players. That's why she was hyped. Let''s not act stupid, you know that's right too. Breaking both the men and women scoring record didn't hurt either.
