First Thoughts On Turkey - 48 Hours in Istanbul

We are back in Istanbul, ready to spend an exciting 48 hours in this incredible Turkish city!
Our first stop is to meet up with some friends for breakfast before making our way over to the Grand Bazaar for some exploring and taste testing. We tried our first Turkish delight and Turkish coffee and wow they go so well together... you need to try them together!
Next up we went on a ferry ride to the Asian Continent which is still apart of Istanbul city - the only city in the world to be split across 2 continents. On our way back we made a stop over at Galata Tower to watch the sunset.
The next morning we got up bright and early to explore the Blue Mosque - the very first mosque we have ever been inside before one more sip of tea with the most insane view of the Hagia Sophia museum before checking into our new hotel so we can meet our Intrepid Travel crew.

@Rod Zam population is 80 million people and each drinks awarage of 1300 cups od tea each year going to their home and peeing to their tea will take more than 5 min but lets say 5 then it is 520000000000 minutes and if we divide it by 60 it is 8666666666 hours and if we divide that by 24 it is 361111111 how are you planning to pee on every tea if we make more than you humanly can pee on every year by thousands of times ?

I love Turkey. I was in the military and was stationed in southern Turkey in Adana back in the 80s. I traveled all over Turkey. I had a few favorite places- Cappadocia which is a wonder unto itself-absolutely amazing ruins including underground community . The other place I loved was Mersin which is in southern Turkey on the Med coast. A great coastal community. Loved Turkish coffee...omg. Chai-the tea is phenomenal. I brought back a hand carved Meerschaum pipe (along with rugs)...so if you get a chance to see some of those pipes-its the one lovely gift to bring back. Enjoy your time there!

Lily Our Adorable Miniature Schnauzer Sounds interesting. I am originally from Turkey but born and raised in Germany but do now live in Mersin, which I can absolutely agree is a beautiful City. And Turkish Coffee is the best. If you ever plan to go to Turkey again just for traveling, I can say that one of the most beautiful Cities there is definitely Antakya in Hatay. Hatay is a Province whit a lot of cities. Antakya is full of History, Culture and truly amazing food and people. Just keep it in your mind if you want to. Have a great day :)

Mike Marios former Constantinople only makes up max 1-2% of modern Istanbul. And even the constantinople part the Ottoman elements dominate, which reshaped and more importantly revived the city. Constantinople was fallen, sick and in misery. The crusades, plague and falling byzantine empire contributed to it’s demise. Why else would it fall? Because it was miserable. Referring to the 18M Istanbul with the 250k Constantinople is not only extremely ignorant, it’s also greatly disrespectful. First things Ottomans did was repopulate the city, and increase it’s significance in the world, and the rest is history... stop being a dumbass and show some respect. Thank you.
