My Hot Take is that V for Victory is a cat in the bag - no gameplay or battlereports, no reviews, no rulebook flip throughs. Just a big unknown. At least for English speaking audience.

Looks interesting. That card activation seems similar to their muskets and tomahawks game. I also like a lot of that morale mechanic. Units breaking after taking enough stress tokens feels intuitive. Epic Armageddon had similar mechanic and I've loved it ever since.

Pre-ordered from my FLGS and await the arrival! We plan on using 15mm, and possibly shrinking to a 3x3 to account for scale. 4x4 at 28mm is a close in fight. which at the platoon/skirmish level is good. I like the idea of asymmetric missions and the minimizing of vehicles. The reality of tanks rampaging into a town by itself and taking over is a fallacy. Tankers need infantry to hold ground and tankers buttoned up have limited vision.

Having played our first game at 1/72 (~20mm), I'm already considering scaling our next experience down to 15. I think it could really 'feel right' at about that size while still sticking with a 4x4 table. Presuming you stick with the recommended movement distances, it's really just about the aesthetics.

@@tomrodemeier520 Be mindful this is not a game designed to have lots of maneuvering, this 28mm and 4x4 is a close fight. Platoon size elements are wandering all over in WW2. you would cross into another units sector and cause problems.

Chain of Command is an excellent game, but it’s not a tournament game. Historical forces, no list building. Lots of friction. Unit leaders matter. Worth checking out if you like the history and miniature gaming.

I feel like Monty was trying very hard to be polite here, though I might be wrong. It's really hard to top Bolt Action for World War II platoon-level action. It's such a great game--really fun and very tactical.

I have heard good things about chain of command. Can't do any judgements though. Have not played it.

I have the book and read 20 pages. I wondered if it was still in French as I did not understand hardly anything. I knew the words but not what was meant when the were put together. A pure work of frustration. Maybe if I see a demo I can catch on. Talking heads about it does not help :( I have Congo and play every couple of months and love it. It is possible for the company to make some good rules, but not 5 for Victory for me.

I am leery of the additional units, snipers, light mortars, PAK 40's and Tripod mounted MG's absolutely. Flamethrowers and artillery pieces? first are not common at all and the second nowhere near this level/scale of battle. But I like a little historical with my fantasy gaming, to make the story sell better and give you handrails.

Sure! I'm not sure what the standard size will be but the smallest will probably be 3-5 basic teams as each faction's core and then 1-2 of the goodies you mention or a vehicle or two.
