I was thinking of doing this ride but was a little nervous and glad to see that it wasn't too bad.

definitely the timing is going to be the most important part. let me know how it goes if you do it!

Always been curious about that ride - seems very daunting. This assuaged some of those concerns though!

Totally! I do think leaving on a weekday morning makes a big difference, though. And I got a bit lucky with all of those orange cones, too. Glad it was a helpful video!

Hey Jordan, yesterday I cycled from Denman Island to Nanaimo, and before that, I was at Miracle Beach. Judging from this video, the !9A was busier than the Sea To Sky, and the shoulders narrower in most areas (almost non-existent in populated areas). Just before Buckley Bay a Porsche almost caused a huge accident when he flew past a line of cars, just missing a truck coming around the corner. Another accident happened after Black Creek, where traffic was heavy. I might have been in it, if it wasn't for the gluten-free bakery I stopped for a minute before. Also, I watched a deer die after a hit and run just outside of Miracle Beach, which left me bawling for about an hour. So, kind of eventful. I loved staying at Earth Club Factory on Denman, everywhere else was extortionate and I got turned away at Rathtrevor (no great loss). I don't know if you've done that route, if so I'm wondering how you'd compare it to the Sea To Sky, tho I doubt I'd dare it anyways.

hey Bob I'm sorry, that sounds really traumatic of a day. That would definitely put me off from cycling for a while. I have been to Miracle Beach on early spring and it was a lot less busy, that said myself and people in my group did notice that drivers seemed much more aggressive, less considerate, and more impatient. That plus the narrower shoulders and less passing lanes does make it seem like not a fun time especially during busier seasons. I do think I got lucky with the timing of the Sea to Sky highway. Though maybe in the early morning things simply aren't that busy?

There is an MTB hotspot up Mamquam. North of Squamish there is concrete barrier on the shoulder. Not great.
@JordanVegBike4 ай бұрын
oh yup Squamish is a huge MTB spot for sure.

Its not that bad, I do it all the time. The sketchy spots are at porteau cove, where the limit is 60, and just before murin.
@JordanVegBike4 ай бұрын
yup those are the two spots but besides that honestly not too shabby. low traffic days make it even better.

Nice - I have always thought it would be a beautiful ride but I'm too chicken. Maybe we can go together some time? haha
