If Mourinho tries to get Gerrard every season since day 1 JM at Chelsea when he already got Lampard shud put this debate to rest. Mourinho have to make do with Lampard bcoz he can't get Gerrard but he never give up in trying to get Gerrard to Chelsea.

He was such a good midfielder and then just a deadly threat from anywhere outside the box. it was a brutal combo. my favourite of all time. started so young, and played for ages.

just incredible. I am a Liverpool fan, and as amazing as we are currently , a peak Gerrard would walk into our current team, be the captain instantly and probably still be the best player in the team and make us even better than we are now (Imagine the currently Liverpool but swap Henderson for Gerrard, it would be unstoppable). Possibly the most complete player ever, and one of the greatest long shooters of all time. I cannot get across though, more than the shooting, the complete skill set (although all this helped) to get across what this guy was as a captain. In a kind of dry period for Liverpool , this guy managed to drag us to a many wins and a few trophies. I credit his presence with being more than the deciding factor behind the 05 Champions League win and the 06 FA Cup Were it not for Gerrard Liverpool would have lost both finals. Against AC milan he got us going when we seemed dead an buried and he won the penalty that Alonso missed (Xabi scored the rebound to make it 3-3). His leadership got us through that in a big way and he inspired his team mates and the Liverpool crowd that night. In the 06 FA Cup final he pretty much played West Ham by himself and scored the greatest equalising cup final goal of all time ...on the Whistle, clutch settings..MAXIMUM The only Leader I have seen quite like it (and he was actually even better) was Maradona. Obviously Maradona was way more skill full and (IMO) the GOAT, totally different play style etc. But he had that same ability to get average players around him to play like world beaters at crunch time. Gerrard was a lesser version of this , but only because Maradona was such an extreme crazy example of it. In the UK we used to have a comic "Roy of the Rovers". About a football team, and in particular the Captain and star player "Roy". Generally each copy of it involved some epic Football game over a big trophy , the opposition starting strong and Roy inspiring his Rovers to overcome, despite being the underdog. Gerrard was the real life version of that,. Zidane wanted Real to sign Gerrard to be his partner in the midfield because he believed him to be the best Midfielder in the World. As a long time Liverpool fan I am happy this never happened, but the thought of Gerrard and Zidane in the same midfield is something I wish the world saw, imagine that. Ironically Zidane was almost signed by Liverpool as a young 18/19 year old (Roy Evans was interested in him) but he was passed over for someone else (not sure who). It was a while since I heard about this, but I believe Zidane and LFC had agreed terms, but Liverpool did not want t pay what was being asked and in them days the fee probably would have been £1million or less LMAO So it almost happened at Liverpool (not gonna lie I wish that had happened very very much lool)

Gerrard is great player because his physical prowess is matched with a great football brain and delicate touch: make him play any position on the pitch for the whole season and he can be one of the best players in the position. Opposition fans do hate him bcos he only played for liverpool. The only imperfection in his game is his lack of style and footwork like the neymars and KDBs....
