Native Iraqi here! Let me tell you a bit about all that. When you order at an iraqi restaurant the grills usually take a while to cook the meat, so you're given the lentil soup as an appetizer (good thing you ate that first!) The red sauce is there for the rice and meat, usually you just put a bit at a time so the rice doesn't go soggy, but if you prefer all of it at once that's also fine, the potatoes have also been boiled in the same soup, which is why they were reddish. The Tri-Meat is usually what everyone goes with when at a restaurant, a classic! The stuffed veggies are called 'Dolma'. Traditionally it's made with grape leaves around rice, but now a days you can stuff whatever in, and it's just as good, dolma is basically the national food of iraq, homemade tastes the best! And of course the baklava, can't go wrong. Thanks for trying Iraq, I enjoyed it!

So Dolma is Iraqi as well. That's interesting. Here in India, there's a traditional Bengali food called dolma as well, which guess what, is pointed gourd stuffed with mustard oil, spices and other condiments, and cooked in a spicy thick gravy that's primarily mustard paste based. I guess they share a similar origin.
