These three brothers made harmonies so tight that no other group will ever be able to copy them - including in this video clip. They at times may sound as if they're singing in the same key - however, they're not. They never studied music, never knew how to read musical notes - nor knew what a musical scale was. All of them self taught (since the ages of 9 and 6...), playing an array of instruments - and musically adapting to each new decade that they entered together. Yes,, these three Musical Geniuses brought us close to 50 years of Pure Magic...💖💖💖 This rabbit hole is DEEP - their catalogue is vast (over 600 songs that they wrote, sang and produced...), as well as songs they wrote for Diana Ross, Frankie Valli, Otis Redding, Barbara Streisand, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton and Destiny's Child - to name a few... Have fun getting lost in this rabbit hole, guys!

Some Bee Gees stats; Brothers Barry, Maurice & Robin Gibb began in 1955 as The Rattlesnakes, (Barry age 9, the twins almost 6). 1958, were renamed BG’s/Bee Gee’s. 1st international hit was Massachusetts in 1967, hit #1 in 13 countries. In the US alone, starting in 1967, they had 30 top 40 hits (23 in top 10, 9 #1s & 6 releases were consecutive #1s). Worldwide, over 120 million records sold. 22 studio albums. 83 singles. 2 live albums. 15 compilations. 4 Soundtracks, including Saturday Night Fever, the 2nd largest selling soundtrack of all time (in Library of Congress, as Culturally Significant). 3 Grammys, plus Grammy Legend & Lifetime Achievement Awards. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Songwriters Hall of Fame (1031 songs by Barry, Robin & Maurice, together, alone or with others). Wrote hits for Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick, Barbra Steisand, Frankie Valli, Samantha Sang, Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers & more (many also produced by Barry). Barry is the only songwriter in history to have 4 consecutive #1 songs on US charts. Starting with Bee Gee's Stayin Alive, which hit #1 Feb. 4, 1978 & held for 4 weeks. March 4, was bumped by baby brother Andy Gibb’s (Love is) Thicker Than Water, #1 for 2 weeks. That was displaced by Bee Gee's Night Fever, #1 for 8 weeks, followed by Yvonne Elliman's If I Can't Have You, #1 week of May 13. Since Barry co-wrote all 4, from Feb. 4, 1978, till mid-May 1978, with no gap, a song (co) written by Barry Gibb held the #1 position. Not many will ever come close to their career.

There were no “videos” then - no MTV - we’re lucky to have this - ahead of their time, as usual - those are disco lights that were in clubs across the country. Singing in the same key, thankfully, and are harmonizing throughout the whole song. Not an easy song to sing with those chord changes - no auto tune then. We used to dance to this and it was perfect - not too slow so you could do moves but still very romantic. It was a beautiful time for music. There’s so more…Enjoy!

So, I think what you're trying to suggest is that they're singing the same note...but they aren't. They're harmonizing in (if I had to guess) 4th/5th/octave, at least in parts. The reason you may think they're singing the same note is probably because they're brothers, they have related voices literally, and the combination both from their own voices and the production/mix is so perfect that you can't differentiate different notes...but they're there. Listen again, you'll hear them.

Barry Gibb in his prime was one of the most beautiful men ever. He's also one of the most talented and successful songwriters in the history of modern music and in his prime his vocals were unmatched. Gorgeous man with a beautiful voice and the best and strongest falsetto ever. Just listen to Reaching Out from 1979 kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJerhoZrgstjZrM In this clip: the tallest guy with the big hair and beard: Barry Gibb born September 1, 1946, the only surviving Gibb brother. Guy with long hair: Robin Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away May 20, 2012, balding guy with beard Robin's fraternal twin brother Maurice (pronounced "Morris") Gibb, born December 22, 1949-passed away January 12, 2003. They also had another, younger, brother Andy Gibb, born March 5, 1958-passed away March 10, 1988. The three oldest brothers were born on the Isle of Man (UK). Oldest brother Barry got seriously burned when he accidentally pulled boiling tea over himself at 18 months old. He was in coma for a while, nearly died and was in hospital for many months. Because of this, he did not learn to talk until after the twins were born. Later the family moved to Manchester and from there they emigrated to Australia in 1958, right after Andy was born. Their musical career, which they had started as little kids, didn't lead to international success so they moved back to the UK in 1966. Then they had a string of big hits, until they temporarily broke up around 1970 for 15 months. Started back up, looking for a new sound which they first found in 1974 with the transitional album "Mr. Natural". After that "Main Course" was the first album that moved them into a new direction: more rhythm&blues, dance music like with great hits like Nights on Broadway and Jive Talkin'. From 1976 on they went all out with falsetto driven dance music which lead to their biggest commercial success as they provided classic songs for the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack (1977 Stayin' Alive, How Deep is Your Love, Night Fever amongst them).

There's a lot of interesting history to these brothers. Extremely talented. They could go into a studio in the morning and come out with five songs by the afternoon. They were known as the kings of disco, although I think they thought of them more as R&B. I know BJ has heard, "Stayin' Alive" which is probably their most famous song, but I bet when Asia hears it, it will sound familiar. Then there's "You Should Be Dancing". There's one video where their younger brother, Andy, (who had his own solo career and unfortunately died young of a drug overdose) sings with them. And, yes, their "Saturday Night Fever" album which accompanied the really good movie, is one of the highest grossing albums of all time. : D

This kind of harmonization is something which only happens when you're singing with the same persons for more than 20 years, are siblings with them and 2 of them are TWINS! This is Bee Gees, we should invent a time machine to see them performing live!

Back in the 60's, I grew up in a integrated, low income neighborhood - we all played together, hung out, sang out, danced but elements stepped in and ended hope of growing harmony. They all should lets us be and UNITE.

The first time I heard my husband play this song I thought he was a cornball. This is my mom's lane of music. - But then he grabbed me, started dancing with me in the kitchen, and I actually listened. Now? This song comes on and where ever he is is where I need to be. 🥰🥰🥰

You probably have the BGs, Simon and Garfunkel, Beach Boys with the best harmonies but they were led by The Everly Brothers. All great in their own right. Me, I love, them all

Definitely harmonizing! The best way if you can’t hear it. Watch the shorter one (Maurice) when they are going in a circle about half way through. He’s in the middle and at first he isn’t singing. Then watch and listen to him come in. It’s so so good

These brothers from England, were together performing since 1963, when they weren't even teenagers yet. Sadly, Barry is the only one still alive, and he can't get through an interview without crying, because he misses his brothers so much. God Bless him.

@@leniprof they were British. Isle of Man isn't part of England or Britain or the UK. It's a British Crown Dependency and is independent from the UK. The people of the island are called Manx and they have British citizenship. The Gibb brothers' parents were English. They left the British Isles in 1958 when Barry was nearly 12 and the twins were 9 as £10 poms. Only lived in Australia for 9 years before returning to their homeland in 1967. None of them gave up their British citizenship. The group, the Bee Gees, was formed in Australia.

Producer Robert Stigwood commissioned the Bee Gees to create the songs for the film Saturday Night Fever and as a result "How Deep Is Your Love", "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever" and"More Than a Woman" were born. They wrote these over one weekend and the producer flipped out when he heard them. This changed the Bee Gees from good to overwhelmingly great!

The BeeGees rabbit hole is very, very deep. In 1955 in Australia, they were called the Rattlesnakes. They changed it to the BeeGees in 1958. They've written hundreds of songs for themselves and others. Ironically, they can't read a note of music. LOL Their music has spanned 7 decades.
