philip This might be the 3rd or 4th AJ reaction video I've seen lately that were inspired by your recommendation. It was the reactors introduction to Angelina and, of course, they were all blown away. I have to humbly thank you for comments! I don’t have a web space or page or anything. Had a car accident 7 months ago and been confined to a bed 23 hours a day. Discovered an artist called NF that changed my entire perspective on life. The ran into Angelina and she changed it in an entirely different aspect! I’ve never wanted my name to be called out, I just wanted them to play her once because that’s all it ever takes. Most of my people are coming from nf because he’s amazing. Thanks for this beautiful reaction with this unreal Angelina's cover, this song is a important step to understand the uniqueness of Angelina's talent and her incredible passion and understanding for music. As they say AJ don't play. We get the most stunning, amazing performance of a 9 yr old of this Jazz standard ever created. I believe it is going to go down in Jazz & Music history as the best ever for this age and in my opinion the best rendition of this song ever created Screamin Jay included. It will be revisited for Decades and will remain relevant for Generations to come. Anyone who discovers this performance for the first time today or a 100 years from today are going to be as amazed and astounded as everybody has been to this point. Her originals, so far, are (in chronological order) "What Is Life?" Angelina Jordan is from Norway and began singing at age 18 months. She loved jazz from the beginning, especially Billie Holiday. At age 8, she won Norway's Got Talent singing George Gershwin's song Summertime. Angelina sings barefoot to raise awareness of child poverty after giving the shoes off her feet to a shoeless girl in the Middle East. Nice first reaction guys! Oh boy, you are going to be bombarded by her fans called Angels that will fill you in on this music prodigy with an old soul from Norway. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. She entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 16 years old, living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. She is working on a new album of original music which will be coming out next year. She recently returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. Angelina Jordan Astar started singing at 1 1/2, teaching herself to sing (jazz) at 2, auditioned for Norway's Got Talent at 7, and ended up winning shortly after turning 8. She has over 180 cover performances and 5 originals. She arranges the music and lyrics for her performances, sometimes creating breathtaking ballads, and sometimes just shocking us such as with her cover of Screamin Jay Hawkins' 1956 "I Put a Spell on You" (Jay's face is on the candle she holds up in the beginning). In this current video I've listened to numerous voice coaches, who can point out what she's doing with her physiology to create the sounds and vocal ornaments. What they are at a loss at in explaining, is to say just how she can be doing anything that she's doing. Angelina arranges the music and/or lyrics to the songs she covers. It's almost like she's singing a song the way it was supposed to be sung. After winning Norway's Got Talent, her parents insisted that she enjoy, as much as possible, a normal childhood. Her family moved to the US, and she now lives in LA. She will turn 17 in January, and she will graduate high school in Spring of 2023. From there on forward, there will be no holding her back. Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz", amongst many other names. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at age 6, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true you, have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need. (Just a couple of technical pointers. The first is to find a stable place for your camera, as your video seems to be shaking. Second, after you pause the video, jump back a few seconds before restarting. Singers will set up their verses in a way that's lost with stops and starts. If you're using a computer, the back arrow key takes you back in 5 sec intervals. Angelina was 9 years old in this performance - Her nationality is Norwegian but is fluent in English even at this age - This song was not arranged for her - she wrote the arrangement based on listening to the original Screamin' Jay Hawkins version - in fact, at the beginning of the video you see Angelina writing down some last-minute changes and it is read by the bandleader. You also notice that her own handwritten notes are on the music stand in front of her as she sings. For more insight into how Angelina works, here is a rehearsal video with the same band at the same age (9 yrs old) - You will see that she is aware of what each musician is doing and gives them some instructions. I have watched and listened to her in awe since she released her first video on KZbin, and what has been evident to me from the start is that she sings with total conviction, despite the fact that she is far too young to have experienced the events suggested in the lyrics of the song she has chosen to sing. But it is not only that, for strange as it may seem is the even more remarkable fact that she con convey the appropriate emotions within those lyrics to her listener. Yes, Angelina was 9 years and 2 months old when she performed this song. It is her tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, who wrote and performed the song in 1956. She based her arrangement on his original performance, although she discarded all the theatrics and allowed her voice and body language to tell the story. The song has been covered by many singers over the years, but to my knowledge, Angelina is the only one who has sung in the same style as the original. Things I found particularly worthy of note in this video are (a) Angelina finishing writing last minute changes she wanted and handing them to the Music Director, who smiled. (b) A brief glimpse of Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, a well known and respected Iranian Artist and poet who was also a child prodigy. She was the person who recognised Angelina's talent at an early age and exposed her to all the old time jazz singers. (c) The candle with an image of Screamin' Jay Hawkins on it. (d) The smile on the face of the Bass player. (e) How she rose on to her toes on the last occasion she sang "...because you're mine" (f) The fact she occasionally refers to her written notes on the music stand (g) The instant transformation from "performance" mode to that of a pensive child, possibly wondering whether she could have done better. I comment on the "pensive" child because Angelina has an incredible work ethic and seeks to perform every song in a way she considers will bring out all the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Angelina has been referred to as the "Queen of Jazz", "The Barefoot Princess", "The girl with a thousand voices". All of them are true, but I prefer the nickname I gave her after listening to about six of her performances. For me, she is "The Chameleon of Song", for as a chameleon is able to change its colour to match its surroundings, so Angelina is able to change the "colour" of her voice to accurately match the needs of the song to reveal the emotions within the lyrics and melody. Even more remarkable is her innate ability to communicate those same emotions to her listeners.

The youngest winner of any Got Talent show on the planet. She had to wait two years because you had to be 7 yrs old to enter. She started with a rendition of Billie Holiday's 'Gloomy Sunday' which she just infused with Billie's soul. She followed this by another Billie classic with a pitch perfect rendition of 'I'm a Fool to Want You' acapella. Her next performance was a beautiful rendition of 'Bang, Bang' by Sonny & Cher and performed most famously by Nancy Sinatra. She won the competition with what I consider her first Masterpiece performance of 'Summertime' by George Gershwin. Shortly after winning she was designated a National Treasure by the Norwegian people. ♥👣👸🏻 There is video of Angelina recorded by her mother Sarah Astar singing a couple of lines of "I Will Always Love You' by Whitney Houston when she was 18 months old. She started studying all the greats of Jazz soon after under the guidance of her Iranian Grandmother Mery Zamani a child prodigy in her own right as an artist and poet. English is Angelina's 3rd language behind Norwegian and Farsi along with Japanese and some German and perhaps more. She did this from 2 & 3 yrs old by scrolling thru KZbin of all their most Iconic performance. Angelina doesn't just mimic these greats, she reinterprets them and then simply sings them the way they were meant to be sung. She makes them her own. Angelina was begging her mother to go on "that Simon show" when she was 3 yrs old. encouraged to sing children songs, she would have none of that. Angelina chooses her own songs and she is absolutely fearless. No song is too big and no artist is too Iconic. All the most Iconic songs by the most Iconic singers in music history. Angelina has said singing to her is as important to her as breathing. ♥👣👸🏻 She will sing anything Acapella at any time and often does. Her Tic-Toc is full of these impromptu performances wherever she might be whether in the car, walking around the neighborhood or in a parking Garage. Accompanied by most often a simple guitar or piano her performances are always incredible. Add a band or even a full orchestra as in her performance for Quincy Jones at his request singing his arrangement of 'Fly Me to the Moon'. The same arrangement he did for Frank Sinatra. They finally signed with Republic Records about two year ago after getting a deal that gave her control of her artistic vision and has since released 2 originals, 'Million Miles' & '7th Heaven' plus a soundtrack for the New Movie "The Hating Game" which opens with her song 'Mercy' performed most notably by Duffy. Republic has labeled her their Highest Priority and assigned a team to her including Rob Christy a multiple Grammy Winner, often on the piano in many of her performances and a whole team of equally qualified professionals. She has worked with some of the best musicians in the industry and always get exactly what she wants. They call her the Boss and have immense respect for her. She is due to release her 1st album promised by Angelin to be soon. She has been diligently perfecting her craft since winning Norway's Got Talent singing all over the world, Germany, Japan, Korea as well as TV appearances such as The View, Little Big Shots and most notably America's Got Talent where she premiered her Iconic Performance of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' which Queen gave her the rights to record her own version available on ITunes and Spotify included on her Album 'Magic' which she released on her own along with a Christmas Song collection. She didn't win AGT because she would not sign with Simon. IMO. She has also sung for Many Heads of State including Barack Obama and for Quincy Jones 85th birthday at the 02 Arena in London and a couple songs opening for Norah Jones in Korea. She also sang at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert at 8 yrs old for Malala and another recipient. Mostly she has sung for charities helping raise millions for children charities and climate change. The great part is that most of it has been well documented often by herself and her family. Her Grandmother who introduced her to Jazz at 3 & 4 yrs old is behind the camera more than anyone else. And it's Acadian with a hard C like Cat. lol Acadians are French people who lived in Canada and most were exiled to Louisiana and are now called Cajuns. My family is part of the group that stayed back in Canada, but now live on the border of Maine and New Brunswick. And to make it more confusing I was born and raised in California. LOL And wow I never heard of this young lady! How did they fit an entire adult female vocalist in that little body?!! She sings like she has lived a life time already! I'm actually a vocalist (or should say former now, all I do these days is sing in my shower lol). But, I sing a lot of blues (as well as some other genres like rock) and I am blown away at her ability already! I was no where close to that at 9 yrs old. And I can sing Adele songs and Amy Lee songs, imagine what this girl will be doing when she grows up!! Just wow!! BTW my favorite version of this song is by Creedence Clearwater Rival. Yes, just 9 years old here, this is her arrangement of this classic Screamin Jay Hawkins original from 1956. This young lady has been singing Jazz since she was 6 years old and has absorbed all the great Jazz artists into that tiny little body, Louie Armstrong, Billy Holiday, Etta Fitzgerald, Dinah Washington, Frank Sinatra....well it is a long list. Angelina was literally listening to jazz while still in her mother's womb! Thanks to her Mom (Sara) and Grandma Meri Zamani's love for music, from conception to the present at 16, her entire life has been filled to the brim with music. It's in her DNA and flows through her veins! There is a short video of her, at 18 MONTHS OLD, attempting to sing the Dolly Parton/Whitney Houston song "I Will Always Love You"! At ages 2 & 3, with the help of her grandma, she began listening to jazz, blues, etc (especially jazz) for hours at a time and began studying the jazz greats (Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Dinah Washington, Aretha Franklin, etc.). Angelina has been quoted as saying that to her, music is as necessary as breathing. Another unique characteristic of this young prodigy is that, from her very first performances at 6 or 7, she NEVER gets nervous on stage in front of people. She herself has stated that fact. The stage, the microphone, and the camera are as naturally a part of her as her own body.

The girl complimented Angelina on her shoes and Angelina noticed her scarred bare feet so she gave them to her, and the little girl told Angelina she would pray for her every day.
