I KNEW you’d love Chappell!!!!!! A lot of us hadn’t heard of her either til earlier this year and she has just totally taken off since then. I’m obsessed. She has this incredibly unique voice and stage presence and it is absolutely mesmerizing. Her story is interesting too! She’s from the state of Missouri originally and moved to LA to pursue music but her label dropped her around 2020. Eventually she stopped trying and moved back home to Missouri and like a year later she decided to try again and move back to LA…where she finally made her first full album with Dan Nigro who is also Olivia Rodrigo’s main producer on her records. And Chappell as a person is really interesting too. She’s 26 and her real name is Kayleigh. She views Chappell Roan as a character and her music as an artistic performance. It’s all a persona she has created for herself with a ton of inspiration from drag queens - the makeup, the hair, the incredible outfits. She’s a queer icon and it’s pretty amazing to see her coming into the mainstream. I’d love to see you react to her first full album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. It is such a solid record and the absolute perfect mix of absolute bangers and beautiful ballads. I can’t wait to see more reactions of her!!!

I'm so glad you're getting into another one of my favorites! She's so incredibly talented, and so authentic! And some people think she was dressed as Joan of Arc OR Julie d'Aubigny, who burned down a convent to rescue a girl she was in love with so they could run away together, which I think goes more with how the performance started/the theme of the song.

omg YESSS i've been waiting for this since you did the tiny desk!!!! i just love her so much. as for other reaction recs: her Good Luck Babe performance on Fallon is my favorite (this one is epic and it's the one with the highest production value but her Fallon one is just incredible i think). her music videos are incredible, highly recommend especially Casual, My Kink is Karma, Pink Pony Club. she has so many great videos of live performances at festivals etc-highly recommend looking up My Kink Is Karma, The Subway (unreleased still but she's performed it a lot and it's sooo good), Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl, Femininomenon, etc. Honestly a full album reaction would be great too, her debut album is perfect tbh. hope you continue to react!!!!

Chappell giving us bigtime Joan of Arc! First time I watched this performance, I was entranced by how she gave a gorgeous vocal performance while leading the choreography (when she pushes back the crowd of knights…yah, baby!!!). High-fives to those dancers who wielded swords like absolute bosses and hit all their marks! I love how the microphones picked up the blades hitting each other, justa remind everybody that this IS a live performance. Right up there, IMHO, with Madonna’s slay of Vogue @ The 1990 MTV VMA. So much love to you for a great reaction and to Chappell Roan for being completely authentic & unabashedly brave. Her perseverance thru so much to become an “overnight success” is the stuff of legends. (I hope she got to keep the crossbow!)😆🏹🫶🔥

I had the VMAs running on my TV and was only half watching. Then this came on and I was like "What the f*** did I just see?" "And who the f*** was this?" 😅 The next day I downloaded her album. At that time I was listening to Evermore and was getting more and more anoyed, because it made me depressive. Long story short (pun intended), two days later Evermore was gone and this album is on repeat since then! 😅🔥🔥🔥

I saw a recent interview where she said the flame on the crossbow was a ignited tampon. That never fired it fired a firecracker that was safe and then the stage pyrotechnics kicked off. Amazing amount of work went into this performance effects, stage design, costumes, Choreography, Chappell's voice. All came together on the night. Amazing. I'd react to her Lollapalooza concert, record crowd and I've not seen a crowd so engaged in the call and response since Freddie Mercury at Live Aid.

chappell is far and away the best musical discovery i’ve made since getting into bts in 2020. i saw her at gov ball in june and it was pure euphoria. what a singer, songwriter, and performer she is! they’re probably too long to do as a reaction but i seriously recommend watching one of her festival sets - i know bonnaroo is uploaded in full, i think lollapalooza and coachella are also, or ACL just last weekend (she’s playing it again this sunday and there’s probably a livestream if you’re interested, they streamed last weekend). she sings most of her album plus a few others, including an unreleased stunner called the subway! (def react to the subway if nothing else, it’s sooo good)

If you fall down the rabbit hole, I recommend doing the upbeat fun ones like Pink Pony Club, Femininomenon, HOT TO GO!, My Kink Is Karma, Red Wine Supernova etc, but then also reacting to the slower, sadder ones such as Coffee, Casual and Kaleidoscope. They really showcase her songwriting and storytelling, in my opinion. (Some of these songs were already performed in the Tiny Desk performance, but those compilation lives don't always allow you to properly take in a single song! There's a few music videos, some good live performances and such to check out)

I caught some of the VMAs because I was interested in Taylor Swift, mostly, but this performance really took my attention. Great song, insane imagery on set, and those belting notes at the end...I don't know if I've been so blown away by someone's vocals like...ever. Another performance I liked at the VMAs was Halsey's "Ego", so that's something I'd recommend. Wasn't a big performance but it was a nice vibe and a great song.

Chappell Roan is a generational talent. If you think she’s an amazing live performer you should see the artistry and creativity she brings to her music videos. I see a ton of people are recommending the videos for My Kink is Karma and Casual, and that’s no coincidence, her visual storytelling and scene composition are as skillful as her vocals.

I will say I think Chappell sounded slightly out of breath in the first half of the song- yet she still sounded incredible! I’m not saying this to criticize her at all, just to point out she pretty much always preforms perfectly vocally when live✨ I think in the Jimmy Fallon performance her vocals were easier to hear also due to the sound mixing and less audience noise
