Congrats, Lauren! You’re absolutely right about visualizing what you want. I’m much older than you, 64 years young, single, bought my first house 24 yrs ago as a single woman-was a learning experience for sure! 2 hrs ago, sold it for three times what I paid, bought a condo, ready to retire soon and enjoy what I’ve worked so hard for. Home buying is hard even when you have good advice, but a good “talk you off the ledge” realtor is worth his/her weight in gold!!!

Congratulations Lauren!!! Yes, the home buying process can be so stressful and yet rewarding at the same time. I just experienced it first hand. It can be emotional good and bad, especially losing out on a house you’ve fallen in love with...that happened to me, but I ended up getting an even better house. I completely agree visualization really works!!! I just closed on a beautiful new house in a neighborhood in MD that is pretty much what I visualized. I’m a second time home buyer, my first home was a condo that I purchased when I was in my 20s. Now in my late 30’s the second time around I learned a lot about the process and realized just how much is involved with buying a house, your so right having your ducks in order before is key! Lauren, I've been watching your videos for a few years now, and your attitude about life is sooo inspiring. When you want something, you GO and get it. I've never been the kind of person that goes after what I really want, but you've given me the extra kick to start saying THIS is what I want and this is what I have to do to get there. I don't have to settle and life is mine. I think in one of your old videos, you said something like "giving life double middle fingers in the air" and I love that perspective (not to mention the imagery hahaha). Thank you for all you do to empower women, because it's not just that you've supplied knowledge and information to us about style, but it's who YOU are that makes me feel empowered. Lately I find myself thinking "If Lauren can get what she wants, then so can I." Thank you!

What I can’t figure out is WHY something costs almost a $1,000,000 to live in, in Los Angeles? Also, this is a great example of how you can have a business and it can be profitable but if you’re not thinking long term it still won’t be enough to make a huge purchase like a home. Banks would rather see someone making less but with all their ducks in a row than a lot of money but not having your stuff together first. I’m trying to buy a 2-3 flat and I have been working to be perfect on paper so I can get what I want. Very glad to see you have done it for yourself and made the effort.

I agree. The process is taxing and laborious! We were fortunate to have an excellent realtor who prepared us well, but it was an extensive process and we had to have more money than we needed hust to apply for a loan. Glad you're sharing the process! So happy for you!

Congratulations! I was born in and live in LA and my hat goes off to anyone who can purchase a home in LA especially as a single person. The prices are crazy out here in for a fixer upper. I remember buying my first house here as a single woman. Extremely stressful! My Husband and I recently bought a heavy fixer that no one had lived in for more than 5 years. Still extremely stressful and my Husband is in real estate so he did most of heavy stuff. They make it really hard in LA and California in general especially for people with "non traditional" jobs unfortunately. Congrats again, you're such an inspiration. Have fun with the renovations.

Hola, Congrats on your home. I am a regular and a Real Estate Broker for 15yrs. The "single woman" label is not a bad thing; literally, it is designed to protect you. Briefly no ex-husband/ partners can make a claim on your property, because you bought it as a single woman. And if you decided to get married it will protect you to some extent. Remember California is a community property state. essentially its 50/50. If you decided to get married pls look into a prenup. I love your channel. Thank you for reminding us, we are very capable to buying are own homes as well.
