i think it's their most sensual ballad.. and Frida's vocal are top notch. She could deliver this soft sexiness so perfectly and it's one of their most "american" sounding song, could be west-cost us pop from the 70's with a slight touch of jazz in the bridge. the bridge really saves or better alters the song a lot. My favorite ballad of the early ages..

Gonna Sing You My Love Song is a cut above: a yearning story of a woman in love with a married man - and the final occasion when the lyrics were written by Benny alone, who was involved with another woman when he met Frida in 1969.

I would have also liked it to hear this sung by Frida in Swedish.Her voice can be so relaxing warm and velvet that i wouldn't mind it not understanting a single word.I like her early pre-Abba Swedish solo stuff of similar style.She was such a 'vocal diva' without really being aware of it.

For me just the four most terrible songs in 4 different styles of music; ABBA tried it out, which I generally welcome, but please don't make it boring, over the top or too much sugar (in glamor outfits). So I didn't buy the album at the time and waited for the Greatest Hits double album. @@eduardooscar309 Boring I find My Mama Said; Gonna Sing is a good song like Love Isn't Easy, Hasta Manana, Another Train, .... . At that time I was interested in why ABBA can write such catchy melodies and refrains and I have to say respect to the B's for that. I assume that it has something to do with the many concerts like Midsummer, with their direct contact with the audience. All the best!

Hi Tyler, such a beautiful song is this from almost 50 years ago. The synt sound is Made by a mellotron. It works with a lot of taperecorders with violinsound in different keys on tape in it. It works with a keyboard and Its an early form of synthesiser. Maybe you can Google on it 👍🏼👋

Quite complicated production and recording for 1974 .Very close to The Carpenters material that was very popular at the time or even to Carole King's 'Tapestry' echoing music wave who was one of Frida's personal faves from the early '70s.

The background of this song.. Frida & Benny met in a restaurant in Malbo, Sweden in 1969. Frida was with Charlie Norman TV Show. Benny with The Hep Stars. Both groups happened to be eating at same restaurant. Sparks fly. They both fell for each other. One problem. Benny had a girlfriend. Frida thought his girlfriend was not right for him. Benny helped write the lyric.

Frida in process of moving to Stockholm. She was looking for a flat. Benny was going on holiday to Paris, so he let Frida use his place while he was in Paris. Benny returns. Frida leaves his flat. Benny soon asked her to move in.... The rest is history.

Who is Charlie Norman? A music icon. Swedish pianist, band leader, composer, TV show host, entertainer. In the late 60's he was putting together a TV/Touring Show. He needed a front woman vocalist for the band/TV shows. He called up Frida and had her come in for a rehearsal/interview. He hired her after one note. She was already known and had a stellar reputation among music pro's. Charlie's son Lennie Norman** was there the day his dad hired Frida. Lennie said Frida had the gig after one note. @@eduardooscar309 I’ve always thought that ‘Gonna Sing You My Love Song’ sounded a bit like a Carpenters’ song, who were huge in the early 70s. (‘Hurting Each Other’, ‘Superstar’, ‘Rainy Days and Mondays’, ‘We’ve Only Just Begun’). Frida certainly sounds like she’s channeling Karen Carpenter in this song, and the Carpenters would have produced a magnificent version of this song, if they’d tried (or known of it).
