Great job, love ABBA. They hit the USA in 1974 when I turned 10 with Waterloo. Huge band in the 70s, amazing singers, great writers, Benny is killer on piano. Love me some ABBA!

Nice to see you for first time and with the first reaction to ABBA songs ABBA is acronim with initials of Their first names, two swedish couples: Agnetha (blonde singer) & Björn (guitarist songwriter) Benny (pianist songwriter) & Anni Frida (brunette singer) both couples split before the breakup of the group in 1982 "The winner takes it all" (1980) is one of the Best Songs by ABBA and the Most sad and emotional too The best lyrics and the greatest performing with the amazing Interpretation of the lead singer in this TV show express (in Germany 1980) you could see the same blonde Agnetha free and natural in the next song "Super Trouper" and very energetic in the last song "On and on and on" (and with her ex husband) but the people who see it only here (and not the whole mini show) are left with the incomplete morbidity of the guitarist who wrote the song for their recently divorced ex-wife But it's a performance of ABBA, with magnificent interpretation of Agnetha, that She knows how to transmit with Her gestures and body and facial expression the spirit and feeling of the songs (I remember Her in others songs before like "S.O.S." or "I've been waiting for You" from 1975, when She was happily married) The lyrics is a fiction, it is not about Their real life, although it is obviously influenced by Their own experiences and the realization of the legal divorce in the middle of 1980, even though They were no longer a couple or lived together more than a year and half ago, at the end of 1978 "The winner takes it all" is the seventh single #1 to #ABBA in UK, #8 in US Billboard and #1 in US Adult Contemporary Was voted the best ABBA song by the British fans, and is the favourite ABBA song to the blonde singer Agnetha ABBA have more than 20 worldwide hits between 1972/1982, included: Waterloo, S.O.S, . Mamma Mia, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Knowing me knowing you, Take a chance on me, Chiquitita, The winner takes it all, Super trouper, etc All these songs are in your album recopilation GOLD (1992) that is the first to arrives at 1.000 weeks in Top 100 in UK Official Charts (first group singer or artist to do it) in 2016 all four ABBA members return to studio and recording a full new album Voyage released in last November 2021 that is a worldwide success and last May 2022 all four ABBA members asist to the premiere of the Voyage Concerts in the new ABBA Arena in London, in wich these song "The winner takes it all" is the encore The ages of all ABBA members now are: 72 Agnetha 77 Björn 75 Benny 76 A.Frida Mu suggestion to next reaction is "Waterloo" at the classic Eurovision Song Contest in UK 1974 these is the link of the live perfomance kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXfWh5iDr5Z5a8U It's very important, it's the beginning of the ABBA legend, the night that ABBA shock all the world Thanks a lot for these reaction I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs My best regards to You from Buenos Aires (Argentina)

So since you're a newcomer to the ABBA world, welcome!Abba was/still is an impactful worldwide phenomenon in the pop music culture that pass from gen to gen like a' repetitive slowmotion explosion'..Even decades after since their 1982 hiatus, people of all ages and also music listeners of various music genres gather a huge 'army' of fans.Their latest comeback/goodbeye 2021 Studio album VOYAGE, their first one after 40(!) whole years,just rocketed at most countries No1 spot proving what a stamina power this band still has.You'll see....S.O.S. or even their adventurous prog pop/rock anthem EAGLE(The ultimate version of about 5+ minutes with the guitar solo) would be a good choice to follow after this.But there's such a big glorious catalogue of hits and epic recordings they've got,it's rather hard to choose.I'm sure many we 'll be here to join you and revisit them.

Here's a starter list of their dancier stuff: Voulez-Vous, As Good As New, Gimme Gimme Gimme, The King Has Lost His Crown, Me & I, If It Wasn't For The Nights, Kisses Of Fire, S.O.S., Does Your Mother Know, Lay All Your Love On Me, Name of the Game, Angeleyes, Mamma Mia, Honey Honey. Just to name a few! lol. I grew up listening to them, and they are who got me into Dance music, but their talent ranges far deeper than just one genre. True musical genius. Being a House music DJ, im partial to the dancier stuff (just did a remix of Kisses of Fire), but their more thoughtful songs like Knowing Me, Knowing You were the ones i grew to love later, having related to that kind of content in my adult life.

Thx ! Maybe try,"the name of game" ,Their piece probably the most complex in its construction, with its two verses and many distinct parts." SOS "small masterpiece of 3 minutes where there is all the essence of their talent, interpretation, composition, arrangements. " Hole in your soul " rock, exposes the diversity of their production, as chiquitita, Hispanic, where the inspired piano sublimates with the guitar dries the same of many voices." Summer night city", full version, DiscO, there also we find in ymun other musical genre with as much relevance and rich in different timbre. , "thank you for the music ", A little Broadway, here the amount of interpretation and voice are put forward the good composition on the piano, the guitar

@@Muckylittleme Dislike it?oh how come that?lol!Well ok,after all we all have our rightful choices.I see it's a question of taste Dan.For me the official video was kinda experimental and doesn't do that much justice to that big song.I do prefer the new edition that combines the original to the lyrical.I also love the 'Melodien festival" version of 1975 and also the Australian'77 live version.Agnetha's crooning to this performance is so tender and impactful..There's a point in the 2nd verse where she even holds the microphone so softly in her hands as if she's holding someone's broken heart.And Frida's voice does such a fantastic contrast.

@@alexioverdo5225 I think a lot of ABBA videos are great considering they were pioneers, that particular one though felt especially cheap and thrown together and besides morphing Agnetha's beautiful face is a sin against God 😆 I think their TV and stage performances are almost always great and a good watch too.
@alexioverdo52252 жыл бұрын
@@Muckylittleme Well in that particular one it was a new hype at the time(1975)the 'mirroring effect' and kind of symbolic that maches with the SOS signs.Despite this and despite looking kinda static It didn't matter at the time but i'ld rather agree with you.As i said it possibly doesn't do much justice to such a big epic song.Solo Agnetha singing parts though are beautiful.(the clear-full face shots).

As others have mentioned there are 4 members of Abba, the letters representing their first names. I think their music is amazing. So enjoyed their recent album (40 years after the previous one!) and I went to the new concert in London which is brilliant. So chuffed you have reviewed songs from my two favourites (ELO and Abba) recently, and hopefully you will listen to more of both.

Hi Samurai ~! Thanks for a great reaction. Sincere, well-spoken, nice approach with humility and some technical insights. My kinda react! If you're planning on doing a bunch more ABBA songs, then I would love to see a reaction to "Me and I", it's a little less popular and not an early ABBA song. Or you could take one off of their latest (2021) new studio album "Voyage".. maybe 'No Doubt About It" or "Keep An Eye On Dan". If you're only planning on doing a handful more ABBA tracks, then I would really really love to see a reaction to "Another Town, Another Train, an earlier folksier one, or, perhaps one of the most impressive least-known songs of theirs, "My Mama Said", which is a 1974 RnB song.

Given the lyrics, and the main piano hook, they could have easily just kept this as a sad ballad. It’s interesting that they instead chose to turn it into an uptempo, almost dance track. But that type of dichotomy is what ABBA tended to thrive on.
@tuijakarttunen91642 жыл бұрын
5:50 man playing the guitar was her husband. They had divorced the previous year and Björn actually wrote those lyrics she was singing. The name ABBA does come from their first names; Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Frida. Abba is so much more than the twenty or so number one hits, they are very versatile. Please react to I'm a marionette, and you'll see.

Based on your experience as a musician, knowledge of song structure, arrangement, production and the many technical aspects of creating a recorded piece of music, I think for your next ABBA reaction video you should consider choosing “The Name Of The Game”. IMO, vastly underrated and under appreciated. I’m enjoying your videos and hearing your intelligent commentaries particularly when you bring in the technical aspects that go into the creation of recorded music.

You mentioned the beat picking up but the vocal keeping the same pace. ABBA were masters at this placing an essentialy sad lyric against an up beat chorus Other examples are Fernando, were Annifrid is led vocal, Know me Knowing you and Chiquitita

ABBA is an acronym for the names of the four members of the band: Agnetha, Björn, Benny, and Anni-Frid. Bjorn admitted that this song is about the sad experience of his and Agnetha's divorce.

If you listen to the lyrics, you will notice that it's from a man's perspective ("building me a fence, building me a home, thinkingI'dbe strong there") and indeed Björn wrote the lyrics while drinking a bottle of whisky or something. The song is about the divorce of Björn and Agnetha, although Björn has never completely admitted it.
