Alan wrote this song for a girl that worked for him and died unexpectedly. She was a lady that looked after the whole house. Leslie Fitzgerald was her real name, but they called her Sissy. She had an accident on a motorcycle; she was 40-something when she died on May 20, 2007.

Alan Jackson has one of the best country voices… so warm and low and soothing. He’s known for his sentimental songs and he’s had me crying more than a few times. If you get a chance check out “Drive”…

You guys are killing me today. I haven't heard this song in years. I try to stay away from it since I've lost my mom. It's been 12 years since she passed away at the young age of 48. Just really wish she could have seen her grand daughters. I love you mom.

I remember when my Dad died, I was 19 and I just couldn't understand how everyone could just go on with their day like nothing happened when such a good man had died. He died suddenly and I am 62 now. I still have dreams that he somehow appears back in my life and my thinking he had died was all a big mistake. I have been having the same dream since shortly after he had died then I wake up and it is like losing him all over again....still.

I commented on the video “See you when I see you” about how this song is how we feel about my best friend who was murdered on a first date. She was so young, and there are so many “why’s”. This song is both painful and comforting. Thank you for reacting to this.

It's never really easy to lose a loved one especially when it's a parent or a child. I use to go to my Mama's each Friday night and spend the night with her and get her groceries on Saturday morning before I came back home. I heard this song on the radio the Friday night before she passed away Monday afternoon. My oldest son's birthday in 2017. Just over a year later, my Dad passed away on my youngest son's birthday.

Good Morning, Y'all 😄 I had not heard this song in quite a long time, so thank you for sharing this reaction. Alan and his songs are so touching and obviously heartfelt, from personal experience in most (if not all cases, as I understand his story)...I couldn't help but think about the day my family lost my younger sister - it was January 8, 2009, just shy of five years after she received her double lung transplant at Duke University in Durham, NC (she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis at the age of 5 and she passed away at the age of 34). I appreciate your thoughts/words and your tears, right along with mine - as always, Peace & Love to All. ✌❤

A beautiful song. You my auntie passed away from cancer in 89. She was like my other mother. I took off the next day work. My boss said " it's your aunt. Okay but you won't be paid" . I remember getting mad at God. I had to fix that fast.

I like this song because I can relate to every word, when my baby brother passed away I cried for a month straight. I don't remember doing anything else but crying, I was 7 years older than him so when he was born and my mama came home with the baby, I put my arms out to get the baby, this baby I asked for. I basically did everything for my little brother except for feed him, because my mom was breastfeeding. when he passed away, after his funeral I used to wake up in the middle of the night. I would just open my eyes and catch him standing watching over me. I guess he was worried about his big sis, he watched over me that whole month I was crying, when I stopped crying he stopped watching. Well I stopped catching him watching over me, I miss my baby brother it's still like he passed away yesterday.

Joe my condolences. I’ll tell you the story when my mom passed ..,,,give me strength to get through this. It was rough but I also have to tell you this that me and my mom didn’t have the best relationship that’s the last two weeks she came home and I took care of her. She was like my queen. And all I wanted to do was make it right. But on this happy note the first department she passed I would lay in bed at night and wouldn’t be thinking about her and then all of a sudden I feel it either a bump on the bed or like somebody sit on the bed. And I wasn’t afraid ask reply help me and I love my mom good I get to see you one more time. Seven years. I just want you to find comfort in the fact they’re not go home they’re still here and not just in our hearts but they really hate you. But slow
