The "Studio" version of this is worth not only listening to, but studying. The recording was done last minute, with equipment hastily set up where it would fit (drums in the hallway, guitars in the living room) and the vocals were recorded out in a field in the middle of the night.

Interesting you note the Blues sound. Bad Company is very blues influenced on their music. They are phenomenal live. It’s hard to believe I’ve been listening to them for 40 years. 😳 Rock N Roll Fantasy; Feel Like Makin Love; and Shooting Star should all be on your list! Glad you liked them.

Bad Company has an amazing catalog. They have an Album "10 from 6," which is a greatest hits collection of, oddly enough, 10 songs from a band of 6 men. Probably a coincidence. One of my favorites from it is "Silver, Blue and Gold."

Paul Rogers, one of the most iconic voices in all of Rock-n-Roll. The band formed up in 1973 and have been an on-again off-again act into the present. Saw Paul Rogers live 6 years ago and he could still belt it out......very strong and iconic voice. He lends his longevity to a drug-free lifestyle. Their biggest hits were in the 70's....Can't Get Enough, Good Lovin Gone Bad, Feel Like Making Love, Shooting Star, and Ready For Love were all huge hits. The same manager who managed Led Zepplin also managed Bad Co. until 1982 (Peter Grant). Great reaction, TY.

@Patricia Palmer graduated from same High School as Billy, though 6 or 7 years later. My brother and I often heard a band practicing in a garage across the street, over the fence & a few blocks away; it was later we realized it was Billy G & the beginning of 'That little ol' band from Texas'! Years later, while ordering drinks at the bar of a Mexican restaurant, saw Dusty sitting by himself having a beer. Not really knowing what to say, simply asked him if he graduated the same year as Billy, wearing sunglasses, sporting that awesome beard & flashing a friendly smile, he said he grew up in Dallas, haha. RIP Dusty~ Your son has a cool Godfather!

This is when Paul Rodgers and the other members of "Bad Company" were a lot older. This song was from 1973. This looks like 40 plus years later. They were a great "Classic Rock" era British Band. Should have heard him sing when he was a younger man. So much soul in his voice.

Paul Rodgers still has a great voice and this live performance was four decades after the song was first released. I loved his voice best of all when he was in Free. His vocals on classic songs such as 'Oh I Wept', 'Be My Friend', 'Soon I Will Be Gone' and 'Come Together in the Morning' are full of soul, emotion and power.

The album Bad Company, or BadCo, came out in the mid-70's. Lead Singer Paul Rogers, though he sounds good here, when the album was released he had, arguably, one of THE BEST voices in Rock and Roll. His voice shows it's age here in this video, and it has aged very well. Lots of the Blues in Paul's past.

I always hate live versions, we spend 40 years loving the original so of course you're going to change it when I pay a lot of money to see you live. So it doesn't sound anything like it. The only artist I've seen that does better live than they do on their album is Chris stapleton. His album sound pathetic compared to his live performances it's so funny

Learned something new today . I have listened to this song for … well decades, since it came out, and I always thought the lyrics were " Rebel souls, Deserters we are called, Chose a gun, And threw away the sword …" ( as in upgrading their weaponry to a modern version) , not "Rebel souls, Deserters we are called, Chose a gun, And threw away the sun...". Even old dogs can learn new tricks lol

This song will always remind me of my Army Basic Training/Advanced Individual Training (AIT). One of my Drill Sergeants (DS) played this song during a classroom portion of my military training. It was the first taste of the civilian life I knew from several weeks before. It was a nice gesture from the DS and made a very memorable moment in my life. That was in 1990 as a reference.
