"Evergreen" is the theme song from the 1976 film "A Star Is Born". Such a beautiful song. It was composed & performed by Barbra Streisand with lyrics by Paul Williams. Streisand & Williams earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song, making Streisand the first woman to be so honored as a composer. She also earned a Grammy Award for Song of the Year.

@@Lifewithstan2020 Sorry to tag on here, but today is Barbra's birthday! 4/24/42. I know you can't do it today, but perhaps you can do "Woman In The Moon" a live performance from also from "A Star Is Born". (She's booed at the beginning, but that's related to what's happening in the movie at that point! ) Thanks for your consideration Stan!

Think that has as much to do with the movie as the song. Who hasn’t had that passionate love that wasn’t meant to be and our thoughts for that lover is still strong and alive no matter where we are in life. She puts all that emotion into the song.

Her voice is the 9th wonder of the world! It's effortless, pure, and captivating, and the clarity is so pristine; whether she's belting those money notes (which she is very careful not to overuse) or sensually caressing those lower, softer notes... absolutely nobody delivers a lyric like this woman. Her voice is unmistakable... once it gets into your head, you just know it's Barbra when you hear it again. No, Barbra never played a Disney princess, but she has sung a few Disney songs. No natter what song you choose to listen to, I guarantee you will love it. She hasn't sung a bad note in over 60 years. Check out a very young Barbra, in her 20s, singing "Cry Me A River" live at a concert she did in Central Park. Even then she was a master at delivering a song. Love watching your reactions, Stan. 😊

To answer your question, no Babs has never voiced a Disney voice. I wouldn't say she has a Disney princess voice I'd say Disney princesses have a Barbra style voice. Much as I love her and most of her films I hated this version of A Star is Born (the 1954 Judy Garland version is the one to seek out-Judy's signature song from that film "The Man That Got Away" is something you should check out). This is a terrific song though despite the messy film it comes from.
@donnamentrasti2695
@donnamentrasti2695 Жыл бұрын
Not understanding why you would call the film "messy," but I completely disagree. Judy's version is probably considered the OG of the 4 iterations, but I loved Barbra's version too. The chemistry between Barbra and Kris was palpable, and the soundtrack is fantastic. Unlike what Cooper did in the 2018 version, Barbra completely changed her's from Judy's to fit the times of the 70s and drugs and rock and roll. Perhaps it was just that you preferred the period of the 50s over the 70s. The movie was a smash hit at the box office, although a disappointment financially. Cooper's version was too similar to Barbra's, right down to the bathtub scene, and for me, my least favorite. There were a couple of good songs, but overall, imo, the soundtrack wasn't anywhere near as good as Barbra's and Kris'.

That's interesting. I think she became popular when the Disney animated flicks weren't doing well. When the animated flicks resurged in the 80s, she was on the way out of pop culture and much older, I think. I could be wrong tho. Also, I suspect hiring Babs, may come with some challenges because she's a major force in the film and singing industries for so many years and perfectionist.

This is laughably uninformed. She has made her own movies since the 70’s. And has had creative control over her music since 1963
@donnamentrasti2695
@donnamentrasti2695 Жыл бұрын
In the 80s, Barbra was in her 40s and still very relevant and at the top of her game, as she would be through much of the 2000s. But this has nothing to do anyway with why Barbra wasn't a Disney princess... that just wouldn't have been something she was interested in, she was too busy making her own movies and directing several of them.
@captainKbobkeeshan
@captainKbobkeeshan Жыл бұрын
@@donnamentrasti2695 Did Barbra actually say that she wasn't interested in Disney princess roles? I'm curious. Honestly, I don't think she would be good a fit for a Disney princess role. The more I think about it. I'm a fan of hers but I find it hard to imagine her singing Belle, Ariel, Pocohontas. Maybe Elsa.
@captainKbobkeeshan
@captainKbobkeeshan Жыл бұрын
@@uptownjay Well Cinderella was done in 1950. Sleeping Beauty in 1959. So Babs was not a force then. The resurgence was in 89 with Beauty and the Beast and the 90s. Babs by then was busy doing adult contemporary pop or Broadway tunes. Pop radio wasn't playing Babs on the radio in the 90s. Unless it was adult contemporary. I don't think she was marketable as a Disney princess at that time. Or a good fit in their minds. And they probably couldn't afford her.
@donnamentrasti2695
@donnamentrasti2695 Жыл бұрын
@Tanis Did I actually "hear" her say that? No, but over the years I've read just about everything Barbra-related, been around people that knew her personally, and there was never a hint that she wanted a role of any kind in a Disney movie. I do recall she turned down a part in "The Emperor's New Groove," but other than that and a Disney medley she sang at a concert for her little goddaughter, to my knowledge there has been no other association, or desire on Barbra's part, to play a princess in a Disney movie.
