They were treated like garbage when they returned from Vietnam. Every time I see a Vietnam Veteran, I say "thank you for your service." They appreciate it, even all these years later.

In 1965 I was 13 and didn’t really know what was going on in the world. My tears fall for those who died that day and the days that followed.

My cousin Charlie didn't come home from there in 1969. It took a week to even recover him. Shortly after, my Uncle & cousin was drafted at 18. I was young but, my Uncle was "my person" and I will never forget it.

My Grandpa, Mavon Bizzell Jernigan, served in the 82nd Airborne Division. My Grandfather taught me two things things that I’ll never forget. One, always RESPECT the flag. Two, always RESPECT the uniform, no matter the division. Thank you for reacting to this POWERFUL song. Lots of love!!!

Thanks to all of y'all that served in Vietnam I wish I could give them all hugs and respect from a proud and loving American, my baby boy served in Iraq for his country and he is now serving as a policeman for his city and respect to all of y'all that have served anytime but we give proper respect to the 'Vietnam Vets' they deserve it, so please everyone show it !

My uncle died years ago due to Agent Orange. He fought in Vietnam and got treated like crap...it it hurts my heart that people treated & some still do treat our veterans horrible.

I love your appreciation for this song/story - My uncles fought in that war and never speak of it. I know it must have been hard. The first time I hear it back in 2006, I couldn't stop listening to. I have so much respect for those soilders.

Appreciate the love brother. First time seeing one of your videos. Proudly served in the 153rd Cavalry Regiment in the Florida Army National Guard. My dad also proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Vietnam conflict.

Thank you for doing this amazing video! There is also an 8th of November documentary with Big and Rich and Niles where they return to Viet Nam. It’s about an hour long and an amazing story!

I couldn't serve in but with the United States Navy. I am glad I spent to 3 to 4 years serving with them to help protect the country try I love.

Great video and thank you for your reaction those boys went through hell and most were just kids fresh out of highschool they were treated like crap by Americans when they returned home and by her government even today and may we never forget those boys and their families and always remember the 58,400 plus that payed the ultimate sacrifice for America GOD BLESS our VIETNAM VETERANS and their FAMILIES and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE and SACRIFICES for AMERICA

I never served in the military but gave my life to being a Paramedic. Did CPR on a really close law enforcement officer for over 25 minutes getting him to hospital. We lost him and it hurt like hell. I'm sure that's not what these veterans feel but I'm sure it makes me understand. God Bless You All!!!!

The movie WE WERE SOLDIERS was based on this battle. The dates were changed in the movie but the concept was from this battle. The movie was mostly based on a book written by Lt General Hal Moore and called WE WERE SOLDIERS ONCE...AND YOUNG. It was about the battle of La Drang which actually took place on 14 November 1965.

My oldest brother served in Vietnam, and came home to a less-than a hero’s reception. He brought demons home with him and could never outrun them. One month before his 40th birthday he took his life. I wish he had found help. I miss him so much!
