What you just saw was virtuoso performances on the banjo and mandolin, and then a mind-melting solo that is a combination of blue-grass and heavy metal. This style that Billy Strings is introducing is as revolutionary as it gets, in the music world. Your reaction, as favorable as it was, should have been far more impressed. This isn't just "good"...this is truly phenomenal musicianship, at all levels.

Wow, good catch M B! Billy started playing with the assistance of his stepdad (great singer and player in his own right) playing the likes of Doc Watson. He did play in a metal band for a while although I don't know him from that era. I discovered him at the Bluegrass festivals here in Michigan playing with his stepdad. Then he joined up with Don Julin a world-class mandolin player and man did they tear up the festival scene. I had the great privilege of seeing him play live many times. I knew he was destined for great things. From a selfish point of view I'm really bummed that I don't have the opportunities to see him like I used to, but really glad he's doing so well on the world stage.
