At 3:25 they've very clearly dubbed in the lyric "soon turned out had a heart of glass". What she actually sang (and the way she sings it on the record) is "soon turned out to be a pain in the ass".

The band did this after AM radio began to beep out the word. They released the single with the edit. FM radio had fewer restrictions. They still played the "pain in the ass" version.

to understand the impact this song/Debbie's vocals and persona had at the time, consider the reigning female vocalist at the time was the brilliant Donna Summer, whose tracks were HOT and impassioned. then look at Debbie's nonchalant "what me, worry?" attitude, chilly head voice, and the "pain in the ass" line in last verse, and suddenly the playing field had changed. and her insanely beautiful face didn't hurt either.

😁 it NEVER gets old for me to see the younger generation like you, my brother, appreciating music of my youth. I would’ve been shocked if you didn’t like this one of theirs. It’s my favorite tune of theirs. Debbie Harry was a huge sex symbol back then, boy. Their other tune “Call Me” was a jam too, back in the day. But “Heart of Glass” was so good…that even MY MOM liked it. She always sang along with it when it came on the radio. This video version was the “clean” version, though. There’s another version where Debbie sings “…once I had love it was a gas…so turned out to be a pain in the ass…”. 🤣 There’s a few videos on KZbin with that version. Love that one too😆 Keep being true to yourself, my brother! Love your reactions. Much Aloha✌🏾🎼🎵🎶

At the absolute height of the punk and disco eras in NYC (at basically the same time), Blondie was pretty much at the forefront of both genres. Debbie Harry was, and still is a stone cold fox. As I was a teenager in this time it felt to me like Debbie was an understated, or maybe a "reluctant" sex symbol, but there's no doubt that she was. And yes, she certainly had the moves, but she rarely flaunted it.

Dude yeah Blondie was badass back in the day doing her thing beautiful beautiful voice!!! I've got some of her vinyl and a pretty kool 33rpm picture disc single. I really do enjoy your videos keep up your work! I have a question have you done any KISS songs? The early KISS albums with the original lineup being a kiss fan from the beginning everybody thinks of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley singing but I'm curious what your thoughts would be about Peter Chris's playing & singing say Black Diamond, Nothin to Lose or Hard Luck Woman. Ace Frehley has some good songs Shock Me on KISS ALIVE II with his guitar solo I would definitely love to see your reaction to that . Also Parasite on the KISS ALIVE album. Ace and Peter never really had a lot of songs on an album. A majority of the time it was Gene and Paul and a collaboration of the band itself on some the rest would be background vocals. Some really good stuff they have their own sound just like so many others Blondie has her sound and no one else comes close to sounding anything like her music that is the same with KISS. KISS ALIVE II is a double album just like KISS ALIVE but the thing with the second live album they only had three sides live and a studio side on side four is where you will find Ace Frehley's song Rocket Ride. Just a big kiss fan. And of course a fan of yours . Looking forward to see some of the videos if you have already done them or if you do decide to do the reaction video. Take care and have a blessed and wonderful day.

Ah, but you are listening to the censored version. They have sense put back the original, where after the "ooh, whoa" she sings, "once I had a love and it was a gas... soon turned out, to be a pain in the ass". I guess KZbin made them change it for a little. I love to watch reaction videos, especially those who listen to Blondie. They're my favourite band and I truly enjoy seeing positive responses.
