Best new " black artist" I never heard of that category. R/B and other categories is one thing, race should never be, just like "blue eye". Music isn't about race per se, it's all genres, blues, gospel, country, etc., Everyone can enjoy!! ✌
@jenx5870
@jenx5870 Жыл бұрын
@@evelyntaylor4470 I think they got rid of the category in the 80s or 90s for that very reason. Too many people were crossing the barrier with the blue eyed soul genre, and black artists breaking into the mainstream, rather than just R&B. I don't miss the black category, but I do miss the R&B of my childhood in the 70s and 80s. Modern music is severely lacking when compared with classics like this.

@transhumanismhasbegun

Some white people have a paternal blackman in their lineage. The children of a black man with a white mother are light skinned, inherenting phenotypes from both parents. E.g. If the reactor on the right who has green eyes had children with a white woman, his children will look even more whiter than him. Paternity vs maternity. White people with souls like black people have *paternal* black lineage. I emphasized this cause if it was-maternal black lineage but paternal white lineage, they're not like that.

These reactions are so on point. Almost everyone thought Bobby was black when this came out. He has a rendition of _Baby, It's Cold Outside_ with Vanessa Williams, and when I saw them perform it live on some TV special, I thought to myself, "Who's this white dude? Hmm. Probably 'Bobby Caldwell' couldn't make it to this party and this dude is his replacement." Little did I know! Y'all have to listen to Lisa Stansfield's _All Around the World_ if you get the chance.

Bobby Caldwell has 'soul'. People assumed he was black before seeing him. Another white guy with real 'soul' is Jeff Buckley. I suggest everyone listen to the song "Lover, You Should Have Come Over." Fun fact: Though he may not be the most 'soulful', back in the day people thought Rick Astley was black in the UK before they actually saw the video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

This is the music I grew up listening to cause my parents grew up in the 70’s. I’m glad so many people are starting to love good old fashioned soul music. ❤️

I love the music from the ‘70s because there was still more collaboration between white, black and Latino musicians and singers - great stuff from people like Paul Simon, Chaka Khan and Rufus, Heatwave, War. Before that songwriters like Lieber and Stoller, Carole King and Gerry Goffin writing and producing songs with black singers. I don’t get why that changed.

Check out Average White Band - A Love Of your Own (Live at Montreux 1977). They are a Scottish Funk and R&B band. They were FIRE! You'll have the same reaction.
