And you should actually watch the MOVIE! It's absolutely great and a gripping story to complement this soundtrack.

110th St is the southern boundary of Harlem
@voxandlocks10 ай бұрын
At the time, 110th was the boundary between Harlem and The Upper West side/Upper East Side. Now, it's the boundary only on the East side. On the Upper West Side, that stretch between 110th & 120th is called Morningside Heights.

Harlem is part of Manhattan just like SoHo, Greenwich Village, TriBecca, Washington Heights, & Hell’s Kitchen. Harlem starts at the North end of Central Park.

This is a soundtrack to a movie so yes it's Bobby singing and it's a great song but it's not really dipping into the "Real Bobby". 😅 But it's a great track though no doubt.

The lyrics originating from Harlem in the 1970's, the message is brutal with music that I really like listening to. Another song like "Across 110th St." is "In The Bottle" by Gil Scott-Heron, Ashley.

Very accurate I lived on E110th from birth to 5 years my grandmother stayed on E108th so growing up I made frequent visits and it was no joke!! We moved to Mt Pleasant in 1966 it was mixed ethnicity but over pass 40 years the neighborhood became thee hood now it’s improved for the better the last decade my mom still lives there she’ll be 90 this year!! Thanks for memories (fun fact: on E110th we lived on top level of a 4 suit apartment and the washing machine was in basement I was 4 and my mom panicked when she couldn’t find me for about 10 minutes I was sitting at a fence behind Glenville High school watching guys shooting dice. She said they just ignored me an continued their game I was on one side of fence they were directly across about 2 feet; crazy part is she said she was calling me and knew I heard her but I was so engrossed in and focused on the dice 😂 she also told me that one of the guys said we wasn’t going to let anything happen to her!! Showing love in the 60’s across all E110th street- shout out to my homeboy Bobby Womack I was friends w his niece until she moved to Youngstown

Love this song. If you like this, listen to: Bobby "Blue" Band - ain´t no love in the heart of the city. / Minnie Riperton - Les Fleurs (Minnie made a great song, but I still recommend the modification by "4hero". It simply gets more out of it without taking anything away from the original.) / Monophonics - Hanging on. / Monophonics - Sage Motel/ Bobby Womack - When the weekend comes/ MIchael Kiwanuka - Love and Hate . Maybe someone will listen and like it.😄

Great song! Although , not his best. His stab at a movie score trying to emulate Isaac Hayes’ success with the “Shaft” movie score. Check out the real Booby; starting with “Woman Got To Have It”, “Simple Man” or “Harry Hippie”, just to name a few. He had so much! Check out “Shaft” as well, if you hadn’t.

*If you think the story of he tells in this song is scandalous… his real is way more scandalous; his mentor who made him who he was, was murdered & he IMMEDIATELY married his mentor’s wife when his dead body had barely gotten cold yet…No, I didn’t say they got together, I said they got a WHOLE MARRIAGE!* 😒
