Boston's debut album is a masterpiece . Released in August 1976, It's sold over 20 million copies. Every song is phenomenal. Written, engineered and produced by Tom Scholz in his basement studio. Tom plays ALL instruments except drums ( played by Sib Haisan) The legendary Brad Delp does ALL lead and harmony vocals.

Absolutely. But I'm gonna have to "out-geek" you on Boston for this one. Scholz played MOST of the instruments, except for drums of course. The main studio drummer was Jim Masdea, and some tracks by Sib. Masdea never toured with the band. No doubt Fran Sheehan played bass on some tracks (un-named), as well as Barry Goudreau on guitar. Scholz knew all these guys from the local Boston scene, and his basement recording studio was well known among the hot musicians in town. (I believe Billy Squire recorded a demo there) Now, in MY opinion, Barry Goudreau is a totally underestimated influence. (he played the solo in Long Time) Back in the club days he showed Scholz all the guitar/amplifier tricks he used to get that FAT sound. No shade on Scholz' engineering, but really. He woulda gone nowhere without these guys. Ok. Had to get that off my chest. ROCK ON.

This song was the first single released off their debut album. Your reaction was our reaction almost 50 years ago. Their music was unique, something we had never heard before. The sound was the creation of Tom Scholz's (MIT trained engineer) and Brad Delp's vocal talent and genius. Together they made magic. Every track on this debut album was fantastic and stand easily on their own. Glad you enjoyed it.

As someone who was a teenager when this album came out, and promptly bought, in the seventies it still stands alone as a killer debut record. Almost 50 years later there isn't anything that's come out that comes close. If you watch a live version of this from back then it sounds exactly like the record, exactly!

I too, was a teenager when this came out. I can't tell you the fun we had cruising in a charger with the Boston blaring (on 8-track)! Good times!! This is one of those rare albums where each and every cut is fantastic! To me, this and "Dark Side of the Moon" were the two best total albums ever made!

Ashley, I was 16 when this came out. EVERY song on that album was beautiful, in fact they were all radio hits. The biggest selling debut album of all time when it came out. 15 million records! When I saw you were doing this one, I said to myself, oh wow. Someone should have told you that you would need seatbelts or at least a grab bar. It is mind-blowingly good!

CAn you believe the sound quality and arrangment. This was a side gig for the the founder of Boston, Tom Scholz, his main job was a senior product engineer at Polaroid Corporation, rumor has it he had a hand in the deveopment of the Instamatic camera, but not sure on that one He built a home studio in the basement of his apartment in the 1970s. He must have tricked it out because he did not have all the latest tech we have today and got this sound and recorded the almost the whole album iin his basement studio despite the record label telling him to use a professional studio. Amazing group that I got to see live in concert in the 80s

One of the great classic rock anthems of the era -- a masterpiece of engineering and vocals. This song exploded out of our FM radios in 1976-77 and blew all of us out of our bench seats and VW vans. Even after all these years, Brad Delp's soaring vocals blending into Tom Scholz's guitar still thrills. I'd also recommend the HD video version for a bit more flavor of the era. The clothes, hair, mustaches, etc. always send me back. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmW0fGuIrah0rdE

It's funny, I think I subscribed to your channel yesterday because of Elvis I think. But then I did go watch the Fleetwood Mac reaction, and as so many said over there, you've got to do that whole Rumours album; It's thought of as one of the greatest perfect albums in rock music history. But I can't imagine I'm doing this again on the very next reaction. You picked the very first song off the very first album by the band Boston. And this is regarded as one of the greatest debut albums in rock music history, and I have seen reactors work their way through this album song by song, because once again, just like the Fleetwood Mac album, every song on it is incredible in its own way and the flow of it overall for the album is actually really good as well. Normally I would just make a comment about the song itself or about how crazy cool your hair is, but it really is worth considering working your way to this album song by song and you've already done the first one so you could still do them in order. Plus it keeps people coming back for a whole album that is loved by millions.

Boston's debuted album was an amazing success. The first song is amazing. More than a Feeling, is an iconic song itself. The song depicts what everyone has experienced, but the song was that the lead guitarist had a very big crush on his cousin. That's the basis of song was that written. But, most of us were more of people who weren't our cousin, then in some cases, yes it was. Another band you may want to review would be Van Halen and the song 1984 "Jump"!!!! Rock On!!! That part that you're wondering about at around 4:10 to 4:15 is two lead guitar parts since Tom Scholz engineered everything in his basement , or when played live, him and another guitarist (Barry Goudreau) with two different notes playing at the same time is creating a beautiful harmony.
