Firstly this MV has a lot of hidden meaning which come from the book "Damien". Also this song has such a sensual yet sexy choreo to go with it and this songs choreo is my fav. Also jiminies 'shoulder accident' in this MV is a long running joke to us army's and his vocals are just so angelic it's like he is an angel from heaven. Also you see Tae with those scars on his back they represent wings that been torn off as he represents the fallen angel and if you look closely this whole MV and song is about being tempted and trying to resist that you cant have. U had to watch this MV hundreds of times to catch everything (still everything I watch it I find something new that I missed)

The intro voice that came through is Jimin's (full name Park Jimin). He has one of the most unique voices in the industry and his vocal range is insane! You should definitely check out the introduction before you move on to their live performances and other songs, it will give you a good footing to their individual selves and their voices. You'll then have a face to relate to when you hear them sing. And yes, this song falls into their BTS universe storyline. Long story short - each member plays a pivotal role in that storyline which runs through and connects several of their other videos (that would be a whole different journey to dive into). Basic background to this video is how temptation captures man. Good vs evil. And how you either give in/fight against it!

The guy you said may be your bias is V (Taehyung) - he's my bias 😏 about 3 weeks down the BTS rabbit hole, I realized that most of my favourite parts of songs were sung by him. I love all the guys, but there is something so soothing and calming about his voice 💜 Once you've explored BTS as a group, the members have solo songs too that are amazing. For V - Winter Bear, Singularity, Inner Child, Sweet Night, Christmas Tree, and more!

the 'you' they mention here is the 'temptation' to stray from the right path which each youth has to face in his time. when the devil tries to lure you from pure truth and you are tempted to lose your innocence. BTS has a fictional storyline that runs through their music videos. This song is from the wings album which mainly talks about sin and temptation hence the black wings on the statue etc. It talks about how each member gets tempted by something and bc of that their lives start going downhill. When Jin kisses the statue it means he “sealed a deal with the devil” and also V is that devil that’s why when we got a close up on him his back had scars that look like there had just been wings there (or so I’ve heard from theory videos) and after these traumatic things that happen in their lives, they try to find love. But it isn’t true love hence the song fake love. In the next set of album series (love yourself) they find out that to love others you must love yourself first. But now that love yourself era is over we have the new map of the soul era including a black swan and on (I recommend u listen to the whole album bc it’s an experience) I recommend you watch the explanation video it will explain it a lot better and with more details. Also, I would recommend you react to an introduction to the 7 members of bts next to get to know them more.

I think at first he was thinking Jimin and Tae were the same person based on their voice. (I know we can easily tell but in this song, the pitch is very high at times even for taehyung) The way he mentioned Tae’s voice, he was acting like it was the same as when he spoke about Jimin,and speaking like they were one person and did again when Jimin came back in at the 7:16 mark! But you can notice his facial expression changes when Taehyung slips in right next to Jimin so I think it clicked they were two separate people. He definitely likes Jimin and Taehyungs voice! 2 opposite ends of the spectrum and I completely understand,two very extreme vocal tones. I can’t wait to see him get into more BTS, hoping for another introduction soon!

It is okay to just ENJOY the feelings of BTS music, bts is totally the MASTER of putting emotion to their musics and at the same times conveying the strong meaning and telling deep story in it. Just DO YOU , if you are not the "nerds army" category you STILL are the part of us 💜 (ARMY=BTS Fandom name) For you to understand the meaning better you have to read Demian and have a knowledge of BTS universe (which you haven't dip a finger in yet) since these two are connected. *important :The colors coded in this MV have meanings, You see colours always have either a negative or a positive meaning. And in this mv represents the - with YELLOW: Irrationality, fear, emotional fragility, depression, anxiety, suicide. VIOLET: Introversion, decadence, suppression, inferiority. ORANGE: Deprivation, frustration, frivolity, immaturity. RED: Defiance, aggression, visual impact, strain. BROWN: Lack of humour, heaviness, lack of sophistication. PINK: immature, physically week. Some short explanation which YOU pointed on the MV: 2:10 Jin is standing in the middle looking at the painting that shows the fight between good and bad angels (fallen angels). The name of that painting is The Fall of the Rebel Angels. On each side of it we see entrances, one being black and the other one being white. So you either choose to sin and go through the black entrance, or you choose to resist and go through the white entrance. And Jin is right in the middle, which makes it seem as if he can’t decide. 10:20 Jin sees the statue with the black wings. And just like how everyone was tempted with something they want, Jin is also met with something he desires. Wings. He can have both the wings and the boys but he has to choose the wrong path for that. And in the end, he decides to give in, that’s why…by kissing the statue, Jin chooses the evil path. V lost his wings after falling, just like Icarus. Both of them misused the power of their wings, which is why they lost them and because of this similarity, throughout the mv, we always see things that indicate Icarus’ story.

this song, this music video was literally what broke out and made the boys start to gain a lot of fame not only in korea but all over the world. they also won an american award, "billboard" as the top social artist with this song against american artists who are very famous and this was a very important milestone in their history as no kpop group has gone that far. this song is so authentic, has such deep symbolism and incredibly smart, it's an insane artistic music video. One of the funnest aspects of BTS songs is the diversity within each composition--I have lost track of the number of times I've listened to a new release and thought (gleefully): "THAT is not where I was expecting this song to go!" I swear this MV was revolutionary when it dropped, it brought SO many people to BTS. Dope was the first one to bring a lot of new fans but BST was something else. As a fan from debut I still remember exactly where I was when it dropped LMAO. It was my first time having K-Pop friends, I lived with one and the other hung out with us all the time. As far as I understand and know the inspiration for this masterpiece is the book "Damien" by Herman Hesse. As they wrote in other comments, you have to watch this video many times to absorb all the symbols in it. The struggle within us between good and evil, to resist seemingly sweet and addictive temptations, to overcome the chaos within us in order to choose what is good and right for us as human beings and which will probably do us good. Your diagnosis already at the beginning of the video on both doors in black and white and your guess that apparently represents good and bad surprised me. In the great hall there are two statues, black that looks like the devil and white that looks angelic. 5:45 - Jin reads a sentence in German written on the wall that says:"There must be chaos within you to give birth to a dancing star". The first guys voice, the angelic one, is jimin’s! He actually gets called angel and fairy because of his looks but mostly because of his kind and caring personality too, he studied and danced contemporary, popping and has a black belt in a martial art (can’t remember which one) and has done other multiple martial arts too. I honestly think he will be your bias because of his really warm and cute like personality! He really loves his members and is always really attentive. (If someday you want to check out his solos they are “lie, serendipity, promise and filter”)

You have stepped into the Bangtan Universe (aka BU). The BU is a fictional story that started in 2015 and is still going on (told through MVs, books, short films, highlight reels, webtoons, album notes, a mobile game, etc...). In 2016 Army was researching like crazy to understand the meanings in this MV. Hermann Hesse's book Demian was the main influence, the doorways, the statues, the paintings, the green drink, the flowers on the mantle, the carving above the mirror all have meaning. This was such a fun time for Army. It still is.

This song is based on the book Demian by Herman Hasse. This song is about comfronting adulthood and losing innocence of adolescence by accepting all the dark sides of the adulthood(temptation,greed etc). If you want to grasp the concept you should check out the explanation video of this song from XCELESTE You don't have to do a reaction on that if you don't want to, you can watch it in your own time but it will greatly help you to understand their artistry.... Yes the visual and music is great but again, it always goes deeper. When you get into this you will be even more impressed. So, here comes my stupidly long comment, do forgive the repeat offence haha. 2:42 That's Jimin opening the song! Like you've said, their voices are very distinctive and unique. Jimin's is pure honey; sweet and high, he shines the brightest when using his head voice but he can also go low and seductive with AMAZING growls that might as well leave you bothered haha (esp. during live versions of IDOL and ON). 4:02 Gear icon (options), subtitles/CC, Options at the very top, font size (it's a percentage!). If you love dance/techno CHECK "So What"!! UGH I love it! It's energy personified! 4:58 And that's our lovely winter bear, Taehyung! His voice is often dark, soulful and deep. He's a baritone but he can go incredibly high as well (see; Stigma). If Jimin's voice is honey, his is chocolate. Blood Sweat and Tears video and song were built and written based on Demian, a novel by Hermann Hesse which won a Nobel prize in literature back in 1946. I read this book (because of this Mv) and I'll try my best to interpret and summarise the story here. The story follows a young boy named Sinclair who had a friend named Demian. Demian acted as Sinclair's mentor during his childhood and transition to adulthood. Sinclair as a young adult experienced series of existential crisis, believing he lived in between the world of light (the world of illusion, full of goodness) and "the dark world" (the real world which was full of lust, temptation, anger and evil world). Demian, and later on Sinclair's another mentor Pistorius, believed that in order to become a full person a human needs to embrace both of their light and dark sides. This will then lead Sinclair to find out about Abraxas, the god of light and darkness. There are sooo many imageries and jaw-dropping details on the MV that represent details in the book. But the point is this song is about the loss of innocence and temptation, about being a human and embracing both of your good and dark sides. Jin represents Sinclair in this scenario. The scene where Jin kissed the statue (which I believe the representation of Abraxas, who is also V) means he seals the deal with the devil himself in order to fully embrace himself as a person who isn't perfect, full of flaws. The white and black doors represent the world of light and the real world. Suga playing piano represents Pistorius who was an organ player in the story. The phrase that RM read in English here was also taken from the book, page 26 (on the version that I read). It says "He too was a tempter, he too was a link to the second, the evil world with which I no longer have anything to do." "He" here refers to Demian, that Sinclair once thought as a bad influence for him, maybe it's because Sinclair tried to deny his dark sides. The book is heavily influenced by a Swiss philosopher and psychiatrist Carl Jung. One of his pupils was Hermann Hesse's doctor back then. This MV and song are also influenced by a german philosopher Nietzsche. There's a quote by him on the wall above the painting that Jin is staring at. It is in German but it means "You must have chaos within you in order to give a birth to a dancing star". Again, the same theme occurs here, about embracing both of your light and dark sides. Only by accepting your flaws and mistakes you can reach your true potentials. Hesse learned a lot about Jung's psychoanalysis and experienced it himself so that was why Demian was heavily influenced by it. What makes it even more interesting, BTS album MOTS 7 is also based on Carl Jung's theory (hence the songs Persona, Shadow, and Ego were born-- these 3 elements are important in Jung's theory Maps of the Soul). BTS are deep, my friend. The way every single song on their albums contributes to the whole storyline of the album but also stands alone is so difficult to achieve and something you only see in very few artists worldwide (like Taylor Swift). Also don't even get me started on the wordplays and entendres they do. They are such experts at it (especially Namjoon). They are so notorious for their wordplays that the Korean translators find it extremely hard to decipher them. You need to know multiple languages to understand their wordplays sometimes. Not to forget they have written songs in other languages like Japanese and English too. BTS also have the most unique song concepts I have ever seen. They have songs based around metaphors from different subjects like astronomy, zoology, Greek mythology, psychiatry, feminism, etc. Like you can clearly see the amount of research they do while writing their songs. They have so many other literature references in their songs too (BTS have added so many books to my booklist because of this). The diversity in their topic of songs is so vast too. They have songs about mental health, love, youth, society and politics, heartbreaks, comforting and hopeful songs, diss tracks. Keep in mind that this MV is ALSO tied with the BU (Bangtan Universe), which is basically a fiction story that goes along numerous MV's, short films, notes, games, webtoons, etc. where every member represents a fictional character that shares their name. It's a super complicated storyline. (Please note once again that this is all my own interpretation after reading the book, take it with a grain of salt. OMG my FAVORITE MV!!! So gooddddd! This is basead in a book called Damien (Hermann Hesse is the author). The book talks about light and darkness and how in the world you have thses two choices. The mv has many references to the book, the doors (very good, you're right!) represents the good way and the bad way. You can see in the scene when Jin kisses the statue of the falling angel (you were right again!), he made the choise of "kiss" (embrace) the evil. V (the one without wings that smiles) is Damien, that open the protagonist of the book (Sinclair) to this "evil word", it's because that he smiles when Jin kisses the statue. When RM say that words in the interlude, is a quote from the book actually. This mv is very important because when it debut, it was a new concept to the "k-pop" music, they started to be noticed, to win BIG awards because of it. It was a BIG DEAL for BTS. A turning point for the band. MAMA 2016 live is another big deal so if you wanna, it's a good reaction video! But maybe you can watch about them first. Fake Love is also where crushes are formed. JK is my boo but I am also soft for Suga. They let JK flash his abs at Army in that choreography. He lost 1 of only 2 buttons in the concert last week, as well as at the L.A. concert in December and the crowd went wild for it. Video clips on KZbin. We also just found out this week in VLive when he talked about it that he oils himself up for the occasion and now we can't unhear it.

I haven't seen anyone else mention: this music video is part of the BU(BTS Universe), which is a storyline that runs through many of their music videos, a webtoon and some other things. The BU starts with their music video "I Need You", so if you want to start getting into it, start there. Also, I would recommend not watching an explanation video until you've reached this point in the BU, so that you don't get any spoilers. Next I think another introduction video would be best.
