Thanks for reacting. My brother-in-law's cousin in the lead guitarist (not the singer/lead guitarist). We spend every Christmas Eve with his dad. As for the lyrics, all but one of their albums are part of an overall conceot that includes comic books, a novel and solo albums by the singer. I lost track of the story a decade ago. I'm seeing them live in October.

Ok Polo, the next Coheed song you do MUST BE “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3”. I don’t care what other comments are recommending, this song is F’n amazing and showcases C&C’s entire band, especially the lead singers pipes and the awesome groove. You won’t be disappointed dude.

I try to see Coheed live at least twice per year. They put on an absolutely amazing show! I love basically everything by them but to point out a few that highlight their range I would recommend Everything Evil, A Favor House Atlantic, Wake Up, Feathers, Here We Are Juggernaut, The Afterman, You Got Spirit, Kid, The Gutter, and A Disappearing Act. That moves you quickly through their discography, but as mentioned, they have many amazing tracks and incredible diversity. So glad someone got you to start these guys. One of my favorites of all-time. My first tattoo includes their symbol. My kid is named after a character in the universe they created. Their music is (for the most part) one long sprawling story but you dont have to know it to enjoy the music. If I were giving a suggestion on what to listen to for you to get into this band 2 songs come to mind 1. Gravity's Union 2. The Crowing The Crowing is an older track, Gravity's Union is from a few albums after that. They have like 8 or 9 albums now so there is a ton of music there to experience. Can't wait to see your next Coheed reaction.

I never like the single edit (this version of the song) because I heard it after I'd listened to the album, and the cuts always catch me off guard. With Coheed you can either go two ways - their more rock/pop stuff and their more proggy stuff. This song is a really amazing mix of the two (which is probably why it's so popular) If you wanted something more bouncy you should check out The Suffering - it's so much fun. If you want to hear them do epic storytelling with a huge payoff you should check out In Keeping Secrets on Silent Earth (the song from the album of the same name - it's the song that got me into Coheed) or Gravity's Union from their overlooked double album The Afterman. It has one of the best crescendos to a rock song I've heard.

I am glad that you were willing to give them another try, and I saw that the In Keeping Secrets one did not go so well. Subscribing for this review and hopefully to see more. I would say though, if you are willing to give em 3 and want something more like Welcome Home there's a lot more stuff that falls happily into that category. Heavy songs with dark lyrics: Gravemakers and Gunslingers Domino the Destitute The Running Free Faster songs, more pop-centric: A Favor House Atlantic Crossing The Frame Ten Speed Way off-genre, electronic/unlike most of their work: Number City A Disappearing Act Far These are, in my humble opinion, very important songs to the band's identity and best shows you EVERYTHING that they are. Considering you didn't really care of IKSOSE, which is entirely fair, it's more of a progressive rock/metal that isn't everyone's cup of tea, I find that the other things this band does well can be best shown in the songs listed above

I'm so glad you finally got to hear this song. You will enjoy this band. All the albums tell a story and even have a comic that goes along with the album.

They have so many amazing songs. One that always gets me reved up is Domino the Destitute. On a emotional note A Disappearing Act has been wrecking me ever since it was released. No matter what you choose next you cant go wrong. But these are my suggestions

Oh shit! Your about to go on an amazing journey. I’m sure others have commented this as well, but In Keeping of Secrets of Silent Earth 3 should definitely be the next track you here.
