I first heard SOS about 30 years ago, it is a cyberpunk rock opera song with beautiful and haunting lyrics in French. But I was not prepared for hearing DIMASH do this song about 5 years ago, and he took it to the excellence it deserved. DIMASH is from Kazakhstan in Central Asia(between Russia and China). He went to a Chinese professional Singer contest and performed a French song. One performance and you could see on the other contestants faces how shocked they were and it caused a shutdown of the internet in China when over 600 million people got on line to find out who he was and why they did not know him. Overnight and one performance and he was famous and needed bodyguards; then he became a legend in music around the world. He has many songs and each are shocking as the one you just watched. He is the best in the world for sure. You are late to DIMASH for sure; but better late than never. Just remember you have not heard anything yet.

You should NEVER have to apologize for reacting the way you do, it's perfectly normal to have emotional reactions to music that stirs your soul. If you didn't have those reactions, then you wouldn't be human. Your reaction is far from boring! Through you, I could relive my amazement the first time I heard Dimash. It was this performance. I dove head first down the Dimash rabbit hole! That was July of 2019. Very fortunate for me !! Although I was 2 yrs. behind those Dears who discovered him the night of this performance and his meteoric rise to stardom. But, good for me, because I only had to wait 5 months until I was able to see his Arnau concert, live in N.Y. That night an "Unbelievable Day"! So, hold on tight and enjoy the ride! You will find that Dimash is much more than an incredible singer and performer, but that he is a most humble, loving, caring, gentle man at heart. You also can't label him with a genre, he crosses them all with ease and flair, often incorporating numerous genres within one song. Have enjoyed ur NF reactions alot. I discovered Dimash in 2017 thru this same video and performance. He OPENED this annual talent show in China as a special invitee and as the first non-Chinese artist with this performance of SOS (an extremely difficult song in french). The show is translated I Am Singer and is a competition of professional Chinese singers from different genres of music. Dimash is from Kazakhstan and was virtually unknown. After THIS performance he required bodyguards. He eventually placed second mainly due to the fact that as a Kazakh, he couldnt be the Chinese singer of the year. As a result, they had to change the rules for the following year. Each of the 15 16 weekly performances of Dimash on this show are worthy of a reaction. Notably, Opera 2 and Autumn Strong/Late.Autumn in particular. At the age of 5, it was discovered that Dimash had perfect pitch and he entered into the top training music academy of his home country. Both his parents are noted musicians and singers as well. Dimash trained in both classical operatic voice and contemporary and of course music composition. He completed his Masters and is working towards his PhD. He declined an invitation of his country's most noted operatic group to pursue his own musical direction. He is the best vocalist in the world...bar none. I cannot suggest strongly enough to follow this reaction with Dimash's performance from 2018 Sinful Passion. Trust me and you will thank me later. The world of Dimash and his fans is amazing. Dimash is an amazing and beautiful Artist, the best voice of the planet, and Dimash is also beautiful as a man, noble, brought up in the best traditions of his people. This Kazakh boy is rightfully called the Kazakh Prince, and the King of vocals, Dimash is not an easy track, choosing the most difficult road, and the most difficult vocal techniques, from the age of five he is persistent in singing and honing his skills. He has had several sold-out concerts around the world and he is even better in concerts than what this video shows and he does it LIVE without studio manipulation. He has shocked many famous singers by his ability and talent. He has written many good songs and in several languages. Sometimes it is difficult to believe how good he really is.

This was a truly great, enjoyable reaction. The song "S.O.S. (d'un Terrien en détresse)" is originally from a French-Canadian musical called 'Starmania' from the 1970s and is considered one of the most difficult French songs to perform. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He appears here in the fifth season of Hunan Television's "I Am A Singer" competition. "I Am A Singer" is an annual Chinese music competition between famous and established professional singers. The audience phones in to determine the winner after each episode. It is the same throughout the entire show; 500 with musical backgrounds judge the show by points each week. At 22 years old, Dimash was the youngest participant in the show's history and competed against these professional and top-selling Chinese singers as a 'wildcard' competitor. The competition consists of 14 rounds, lasts almost 4 months, and competitors are eliminated throughout the season. Every performance is live, and no lip-syncing or auto-tune is permitted. Pure unadulterated vocal ability only. Dimash's mother later said that he hoped to reach at least the middle stage of the competition. This was the very first episode of the competition, and Dimash had to go first because he was considered the weakest, given that he was completely unknown to the audience. After this performance, he became a superstar in China overnight. His Chinese competitors called him their "little imported brother." The other already well-known contestants were in absolute awe of him and joked that they might as well go home. Dimash won the first two episodes! He also won the 6th for his rendition of "Adagio," a song made famous by Lara Fabian. First place overall went to the famous Chinese Sandy. Sandy's first album came out before Dimash was even born. Dimash took second place overall; however, he lost by a very narrow margin. He lost a lot of points for his performance of "Uptown Funk." Although Dimash did not win the show, he immediately became a beloved star in China. As part of the contest, all contestants/performers are required to perform one original song they have composed. Dimash sang "Unforgettable Day," a song he wrote when he was still in his teens - it's a love song. He sang in both the original Kazakh and in Chinese even though he did not speak Chinese at the time and had to have a translator with him throughout the competition. Here is the order of Dimash's performances for The Singer 2017. The contest lasts 14 weeks, but Dimash has only 13 performances because he had already made it into the semi-finals by week 11. 1. Michael Jackson Tribute Medley (English) (Finals) 14. Give Me Love (Makhabbat ber maghan) (Kazakh) The last performance was part of the 2017 Biennial Concert and not the competition. It was broadcast live and is an original song written for Dimash.

This was a historic moment and this is the song of the songs for Dimash and us, his Dears (This is what Dimash calls us fans.) This song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' 1978, well known in French-speaking countries) and is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight. In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old) and the first non-Chinese. Foreign participants were actually forbidden until then. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home. Despite Dimash's planned brief presence, his name was intended to be symbolic and understandable to the public. Dimash was given the Chinese name Dimashi and the 3 syllables were assigned Chinese hydroglyphs: Di - achievement Ma - precious stone Shi - dream, wish. This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood in front of his door. The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to KZbin ... and so we became Dimash's Dears. The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. won). Beautiful reaction. Dimash has been in formal training and musical education since age 5. Hes now 27. He sings 7 octaves in 13 languages and plays 8 instruments. He is considered the best singer in the world. He has a HUGE fan base worldwide. In 2019 right before covid hit he was on a sold out world tour and when he played New York City fans came from 68 countries to see him. He refers to his fans as his Dears. He is the most humble, respectful and loving man. Truly a wonderful human being. Youve only just begun. Enjoy the ride!

I’m a softie as well and it is an occupational hazard to get teary eyed while watching Dimash. Dimash is an incredibly versatile musician and incredibly emotive. This song is already a tear jerker when you understand the lyrics and Dimash does it incredibly well. He sings in thirteen different languages. However, some of his best performances are without lyrics. Recently, in 2021, he debuted a new Ave Maria that has no words. Well worth the listen for someone with a heart. I really wanted to suggest him to you but I thought that I should wait. I'm so glad you did. You have only begun to see the absolutely insane talent of this man. This was 5 years ago. dimash's parents are musicians also. he is well with about 3 instruments and fluent in many languages. as a fellow metal-head i am ashamed he never got in that genre. he can kick it in like seconds with that voice.

Yup! We all go through that reaction. Another great thing is that you can listen to every version of this song and it will be different every time because he will change some of the details. His 2021 version is my personal fave. There’s are so many great songs from him and he does multiple genres: opera, classical, pop, rap and he has done soundtracks. There is no one like him. About two years ago, when the pandemic took hold here in the US, I was put on furlough. I began to watch KZbin reaction videos and I kept seeing comments about this guy Dimash. I was exactly like you when I first saw the performance you just watched. Speechless and amazed. I have just turned 71 years old and Dimash is the best singer/performer I've ever heard or seen.
