@Painless- where did google get that from? I did a written essay on eminem back in high-school and the m&m turning into eminem to avoid getting sued later is the reason that was everywhere I read. It literally stems from his initials

Him “leaving” means him going on tour. The wrist bleeding part is a true story, his ex wife really did do that when he was touring. (Around 2003 ish)She survived and is okay and doing well now. EMINEM name comes from his initials M & M His alter ego initials are S & S, Slim Shady 😊

You are right that Mockingbird is more of a love song to his daughter, but this one is more of a hate song toward himself. He's angry and disappointed in himself for how he is failing herself, and trying to come out the other side of it before it's too late.
