I was never a huge rap/hip-hop fan (just liked a handful of tracks here and there), but Eminem instantly became my favorite rapper from the first time I heard him many years ago. But, I never really followed him beyond his radio singles and tv performances, and knew almost nothing about D12. I had no clue that he’d put out anything since MMLP2 due to the lack of radio play. 😳 Over the last few months, I’ve been going down the Eminem rabbit hole (basically a full-fledged Stan now), and actually just heard this song for the first time yesterday. I instantly fell in love with the beat. And it was the first time I’d heard Proof (R.I.P.) rap outside of the “hype man” role - his lyrics were kinda “eh,” but I *loved* the dark/menacing tone of his voice on this. It made me think of how amazing he would have sounded on “Gospel” with Dr. Dre, Em, and D.O.C.

When he says "Psyche" at the beginning, he means really, why should they all be responsible for kids? That's not their job, that is their parents, their loved ones, their guardians jobs to make sure that their heads are on straight and know it's just music, But that first Em verse, and all of their verses actually, are really about trying to separate real life from hip hop. Trying not to get people killed in real life after you murder them on the beat or on a track. Things like that.
