Eric was with them, just to get them more exposure. 1st Album - Eric Burdon Declares War. This was a very neat little hit. Suggestion: Reactors try too hard to understand what the lyrics mean. Often, they really didn't mean much. Once the people who wrote them sobered up maybe? And they just sounded good.

J'ai entendu cette chanson pour la première fois le 16 février 1971 à l'Olympia à Paris... J'étais face à la scène, au 3ème rang. Je voyais aussi Eric pour la première fois. C'est un des plus grands moments de ma vie !!!

I followed Eric Burdon and his group The Animals back in the 60s. They had several big hits. Hadn’t seen him in years until I went to a concert he had a few years ago. He came out on stage and had a full head of white hair which surprised me. As soon as he started singing I knew it was him because his voice sounded exactly the same as he sounded 50+ years ago. He was fantastic. Thanks Asia and BJ, my favorite YT channel. You’re the BEST. 👏👏❤️

WAR was my first musical love. Eric Burdon was great back in those days. City, Country, City blew my teenaged mind back then.
@roydownes245811 ай бұрын
this song got its name from the fact that, during the recording sessions, the drummer spilled a bottle of wine into a recording console and shorted out about $10K of electronics. he freaked out over the bill, but burdon told him not to worry about it. they finished the song , and the drummers share of the royalties from the single covered the bill. :p :)

I loved Charles MIller's ( Who also played sax for the band) flute playing...He did a fire thing, wine pouring, foxy lady walking up, KIng of the Mountain, etc..We called it playing for effect back then, such a lost art in today's music. And B.J., That was Spanish you heard from the lady in the background, done by Keyboardist Lonnie Jordan's then Latino sweetheart. Sure wish Burdon and War did more stuff together!
@dadmateryn809211 ай бұрын
It's not about wine, in the song, actually. The pearl refers to the pearl of the orient, i.e. heroin. Spilling the wine is a slang term for the blood dripping when doing the drugs.
