Absolutely BEAUTIFUL song and can be extremely emotionally triggering. I saw in another reaction to this video something that I never noticed. She never touches the ground in the video. She is on roofs, tree branches, the fountain ledge, etc. It appears that she is the one that is gone, he (male playing the piano in the video) is mourning her. Incredibly haunting and a lovely song. Amy Lee has one of the best voices in the history of music!

Yeah, there are numerous references to her being "dead" and probably by suicide... the bandages on her wrist, he not touching the ground, nobody around her noticing her, the man looking up at the rooftops as he walks around the streets, and especially the scenes of her on the dented car roof, which is a call back to a famous photo of a woman named Evelyn McHale who jumped off the 86th floor of the Empire State Building in 1947 that was widely published as "the Most Beautiful Suicide". The picture is stunning in its unintentional aesthetic qualities and it inspired numerous artists, including Andy Warhol. I won't link it here, but if you want to see it, it's on Wikipedia.

The video and song takes place after her fall from the building in "Bring me to life". She has passed, and He is in mourning over the loss, if you look at what he sees, he is looking at the upper floors of the buildings as he walks the streets. He is also dressed in a black suit, like he has been to a funeral. Amy does not touch the ground hinting at the fact that she is dead, and is watching as a spirit. Awesome concept. Not sure if Amy has spelled this out or not, it has been some time since it's release.

Amy has never looked more beautiful... MY take on this song, from the video. Everybody thinks she's sad because her boyfriend, or whatever left her alone even though she was always there for them... The video leads me in another direction. SHE is the one who left, she just doesn't know it. She died. You can see the pain in the face of her boyfriend who is wearing a suit and looking like he just got back from her funeral. She's in all white... Extremely beautiful and nobody ever looks at her, because they can't see her... She's an Angel now.

The beautiful thing about this type of music is that it defies "types". Call it what you want....Rock N Roll, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Prog Metal, Nu Metal, Black Metal....whatever......it can incorporate all influences from other genres of music because it is all about freedom. You have influences from the blues, classical music, jazz, rap, R&B.....everything. For that reason, I find "metal" music to be more dynamic and able to run the entire range of emotions. From the edge of despair to absolute pure joy to comic relief to political revolution...it's all here. And it is wonderful watching people get to experience it for the first time after having enjoyed "Rock" music for the better part of 50 years myself.

What memories this song brings me.... I remember the first time I heard it, I was in the hospital recovering from an accident caused by a drunk, I lost one of my best friends in that accident, while I survived and I spend all day in the hospital bed staring at the ceiling without reacting to anything, not even my parents or my friends who visited me, I just thought about why was I the one who survived, my soul was like in a deep abyss where I could not escape and I did not make the effort to do so, I was like that for months, until one day my best friend's girlfriend came to visit me, we were alone in the room, she lay down on my bed, hugged me and played me this song..... I have not cried so much in my entire life, thanks to Amy Lee and this beautiful song my wounds began to heal, sometimes you have to get out all the pain you have inside to be able to heal and this song allowed me to do so.

I had them play Royals by Lorde immediately after, being it was one of her & her friend's faves at the time & way more upbeat. Howzit going Declan - Amy Lee is one of my favorite vocalists of all time. She took an extended break from Evanescence in the early 2010s doing covers (With or Without You for example), and composed an album for her son when he was born in 2014 (Dream To Much in 2016 - a great little album for the kiddies and grandkiddies (I used to play it for my granddaughter at bedtime)) Recently Evanescence toured with Halestorm and The Warning in the northern US and Canada. As for your reaction - sorta expected based on other 'soft' songs you've reacted to in the past, but also unexpected with the degree of 'hit in the feels'. One of my favorite Evanescence songs - Amy is also playing the piano btw - you can see in their live performances. In 2017 she performed it as part of the concert tour called Synthesis Live in support of their fourth studio album, Synthesis. This included a full orchestra with Amy singing at the front of the stage (link attached - kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIKZoIl7hdeEetEsi=iaifXo0uTowjZhG8) - a very different sound to their original release. Cheers from Oz mate - 🦘
