But I think whatever genre they sing you'll love it! 😊😁 EXO has 9 members D.O, Baekhyun, and Chen are Main vocals Chanyeol and Sehun are the Rappers Suho is the leader and lead vocals Xiumin is subvocalist, subrapper Kai is the main dancer and center also raps and sings Lay is the only Chinese member, main dancer and sings plays the guitar. They were 12 when they debuted in 2012 but 3 Chinese members left the group for different reasons so thats why in older videos you might see them 12 or 10 or 9 or 8. In newer MV like Obsession the reason there are only 6 members in that is because that time 2 members had to serve mandatory military service (this is a must for Men in South Korea when they reach 28..they have to serve 18months). The same goes with their recent MV Don't Fight the Feeling from last year. The 2 members D.O and Xiumin that was in the military came back but other 2 members Suho and Chen had to go in and do their military service. Well just so you were wondering why the videos some members are not there.. They haven't disbanded but just serving military service in their Country.

There were originally 12, 3 of the 4 Chinese members left between 2014-2015, so there’s technically 9 members left. But Lay (the last remaining Chinese member) has been inactive due to political conflicts between China and South Korea. But starting 2019, the members started doing their compulsory military services so there’s usually 4-6 members at a time while others are serving.

About exo members the reason that different MVS got different number of members is because exo debuted in 2012 as 12 members, they used to be divided into two sub unit groups, exo-k (were promoting in South Korea) and exo-m (promoted in china), the exo-k had 6 Korean members while exo-m had 4 Chinese members and two Korean members. In 2014 two of the Chinese members left exo because of personal issues they had with their company SM entertainment, and in 2015 one more Chinese member left the group due to personal reasons he had, so at that point exo became one big group with 9 members. In 2017 or even a bit before the connections between China and South Korea became really worse and at that point exo had only one Chinese member in their group and his name is lay, Lay is really huge star in china and it made him unable to participate with the group promotion so at that time they promoted as 8 members. Since 2019 exo members started to enlist to the military and that's why in the latest MVS there are only six members active, this situation going to be until 2024/2025 until all exo members will finish with the military duty. Now the connections between China and South Korea became better and o assume that this is the reason lay was part of the don't fight the feeling comeback (it was the last comeback from exo). This year going to be their 10th anniversary year and they are planning to do a comeback for us😍😍

EXO started as a 12 member group, divided into 2 sub groups. One consisting of 6 korean members (DO, Sehun, Suho, KAI, Chanyeol and Baekhyun), and 6 representing China. Two of the 6 members representing China, are actually Korean (Chen and Xiumin), wich means that only 4 of that sub group were actually chinese (Kris, Luhan, LAY and Tao), from wich 3 of them left the group during the firsts years of their carrier (Kris, Luhan and Tao). Currently there are 9 official members, but only 8 remain active as a group in Korea, since the only active chinese member (LAY) had to leave Korea and go back to China because of political issues between the 2 contries. We, EXO-Ls hope LAY can come back and be reunited with the rest of the members, he has said many times that he misses his brothers, but even though they've been a part for some years now, they still show support to each other on their individual work. LAY is actually doing really well in China, he has now his own music and dance studio. He's been really active and his solo music is pure art!! You should check out his stuff, specially "LAY- Lit", it's not an ordinary MV, is more like a movie, truly a masterpiece. BTW, you can only see 6 of the members in the OBSESSION video because some of them are on their mandatory military service. Once they come back, the remaining members have to enlist and serve for 2 years. I loved the image you created about the talent show that they'd win both for vocals and dancing haha! So true, they are all rounders with an unbelievable amount of talent. I'm not an exol but I think they started in 12 (divided in EXO K and EXO M) but now they are 9 members. Some of them are doing the military service though, so mostly they are now working as soloists! At least they are not an infinite number like NCT😂 (there are currently 23 members but they keep adding members... just imagine haha!). In "Call Me Baby" you will see there are only 10 members (EXO originally had 12 members).This MV came out in 2015 and it was the first MV after 2 of their Chinese members left -- Kris left right after their "Overdose" MV came out and Luhan left about 6 months later in 2014. This also was the last MV were we see Tao, the third Chinese member that left the group. Tao (The tall, blond with the orange shoes who is the youngest member of EXO-M) left the group shortly after "Call Me Baby." In the beginning when EXO had 12 members they produced all their songs in both Korean and Mandarin, and they promoted as two groups who were part of the larger group of EXO -- EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese). But after the Chinese members left, they no longer had enough EXO-M members to promote on their own so they officially combined the groups into one with 9 members. Now that they no longer promote as the two separate groups, they now only produce their main tracks in both Korean and Mandarin. However, they still produce a Korean version and a Mandarin version of almost all of their MVs. Lay is the only Chinese member left, but all the members learn the lyrics in Mandarin for their Chinese versions of their songs. EXO's fans are called EXO-L because L falls right between K and M in the alphabet. EXO-Ls are what bonds the two halves of the group together. Get it? EXO-K, EXO-L, EXO-M. The L in the name stands for Love. Because you like this song so much, you should also check out the EXO-M Mandarin Chinese version of "Call Me Baby." If you watch the two versions side by side, you will see that the members that are featured in each part are different and even in the dance sections where you might think "it looks the same" there are different members doing different parts. Their MVs may look similar, but that's only because they filmed the MV twice and deliberately made the scenes look the same. Also if you really pay attention, the scenes may look the same, but the members who sing the parts are different depending on the version that you watch. For example, in the Mandarin version you will see the EXO-M members featured more (Lay, Xiumin, Chen and Tao) and they sing the main parts, and in the Korean version the EXO-K members (D.O., Baekhyun, Chanyeol, Sehun, Suho and Kai) sing those same parts. In the Korean version a lot of the main parts were sung by D.O., but if you watch the mandarin version you will see that Lay sings those parts, and in the Mandarin version the rap was done by Tao and Xiumin, where in the Korean version it's Chanyeol and Sehun, etc. Also if you watch the Mandarin version you will be able to see a different sports car with Tao driving the car instead of Kai. Fun fact: Leading up to the release of the "Call Me Baby" MV, there were 10 Pathcode teasers that were released over several weeks. There was a short teaser video for each of the members, and combined with clues from an SM Entertainment twitter account, we had to piece together the story and solve the mystery to reveal the release date and title of EXO's new song, which ended up being "Call Me Baby." If you notice, there are 10 letters in the title "Call Me Baby" so there was one letter per EXO member. If you want to watch their Pathcode teasers just search SM's KZbin channel. They are all there. The stories in the teasers also connect to EXO's larger storyline as well, and it is thought that they not only show clues to "Call Me Baby," but they also reveal more clues to EXO's storyline and tell a little more of EXO's story. The Pathcodes are super interesting and very mysterious, just like everything EXO does.

EXO is always so impressive! I still need to get to know them better but I love them so far. I’ve seen a few of them in K-dramas so I know a few more than the others. I think you would also really enjoy Monsta X. They are amazing too and have probably have some of the best English songs of any K-pop group. I’d recommend Love Killa, Rush Hour, Gambler, and Fantasia (to name only a few). If you want to hear their English songs I would recommend One Day, Someone’s Someone, You Problem, Who Do You Love? and The Dreaming.

Call me baby and Love me right are two of my fave EXO title tracks. The reason they are called vocal kings you'll get to see more of that from their winter albums. Recommend checking Sing For You, For Life, Universe, or Miracles of December. They were 12 members originally but 3 Chinese members left, leaving Lay as the sole Chinese member in the group. He had been on hiatus for a while but is now back with the group in their last comeback "Don't Fight the Feeling" released in 2021. They will be coming back again this year for their 10th year anniversary. Hope you do get to check all their title track before they release a new album.

Over the years a few people left here and there, so they reshuffled and ended up with the current lineup, which I’m not even sure how many there are today, maybe eight? The were actually 12 member when they're debut, 8 members from Korea and 4 members from China. But now they have 9 members cause 3 Chinese members were leaving EXO. They're now 8 members active as a group cause 1 member doing solo career in China for a couple of years now.

They still hold the fastest concert tickets to sell online with a record of 0.2 seconds and breaking their own record of 0.4 seconds. They are on a different level when it comes to their live concerts.

The only kpop that I ever fell in love is EXO...never thought they have a very good male band specially their voices and songs, perfect for me...check for their pre debut and debut songs. But EXO has so much talents, envy by any kpop band in SK. At first EXO debuted 2012 they've 12 members, when this song released only with 10 members, and since 2015 the members reduced to 9 members until now.

There were originally 12 members. A few have solo albums. KAI, Chen, Baekhyun, Lay, DO, and Suho, A few are also members of another group called SuperM. I can't wait to see your reactions to those.

There are actually 9 members in EXO - leader Suho and the rest: Xiumin, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O., Kai and Sehun. LAY cannot perform with them due to political relations between South Korea and China (since he’s Chinese). A few of them serve in the military (it’s obligatory to serve in their 20s for around 1-2 years). Some of them returned, the others still have a few months left - not all of them were in the comeback (Obsession, Don’t find the feeling). But, in the beginning, there were 12 people in EXO (4 of them from China - Lay, Tao, Kris and Luhan) and 3 of the Chinese members left (not at once, thus why you can see 10 members in Call me baby - with Tao).

@TaeTen Min It isn’t really about nationality. I mean, WayV has quite a few Chinese members and they still promote. But Lay is appointed a publicity ambassador by the Communist Youth League of China. So he has much less freedom than other idols, Jackson Wang included. His public position could cause tension between South Korea and China, since they disagree on a lot of matters - especially military systems (and this kind of system was the main cause of their latest disagreement, that yielded in colder relations between the countries, I think).

Here's the thing... In Korea it is 100% the culture: Pick something and work hard on it. There is an intense idol training system--- and they search for, develop, and produce these folks first individually (foreigners also get language training/culture training)-- then they sort them out (soloists, groups, etc). Often members also do other things within the system... entertainment, production, acting If you can find it online... go check out the Idol Games LOL (Chinese New Year and Chuseok specials).. they didn't do last year because Covid but there's 10 years of footage somewhere out there.

What you don't realize about these groups is that this isn't a group of guys finding an agent and saying, we love to sing, please listen to our stuff. This is a bunch of guys that either wanted to be stars or were found by the agency and then they go through intense training vocally, physically, and everything in between. Everyone's training time is different: 4 months only to up to 6 years. SM puts together the groups based on their talents and chemistry with each other. Then after that, the members as individuals and as a group practice and work so very hard to be the best they can be for their fans. This group in particular practice singing while running on tread mills to ensure that during concerts, their vocals are stable even while they are running, dancing and jumping on stage. Mind Blowing is an understatement. 9 members now, 12 members originally. Debut, there were 12, as of current time, 9 members total. Members are currently enlisted, which is why a few MV's have less. Oh man I go away for 2 days and you watched/uploaded ALL the K-Pop! xD Including the group that essentially got me into the industry, GOT7. I listened to them alone for about a year and decided to check out some more Kpop to see what else was out there. And that’s when I realized the entire industry was following traditional western writing patterns, but somehow doing it better. And THEN I find out it’s partially because pop songwriters started taking their talents to South Korea. Plus, K-pop encourages trying new things and I love that.
