Level 42 is from the Isle of Wight. Their lead vocalist (Mark King) is also the bassist and performs with a "slap"-style technique originally credited to funk bassist Larry Graham and further developed by jazz great Stanley Clarke. This is one reason why Level 42 is often given credit to its funk and jazz origins.

If you listen to Lessons in Love and We ll Meet again, there are similarities. Lessons in Love still remains Level 42s biggest hit in the UK.
