Great choice! Level 42 had some of the best musical stylings of the '80s. A couple of excellent upbeat tunes by the group include "Children Say," a great jazzy track from the same album as this one ("Running in the Family"), and the cool semi-disco dancey "Starchild," from the early '80s. Terrific harmonies, almost like the Bee Gees.

Such an incredible piece of music from Level 42. Absolutely mesmerizing and hypnotic full of raw emotion. That scenery in the video is amazing too!
@itsjustme89477 ай бұрын
Glad to finally see you're getting into Level 42. I've commented for years that you should give them a shot! (Try 'Children Say', btw). Now, if you want a real treat, here's one you've never heard of: The band is called 'Gizmodrome' and it consists of Mark King (Level 42), Stewart Copeland (drummer for The Police), and Adrian Belew (King Crimson). The song is pretty silly, but it's a showcase of three masters of their trade having fun! The song is called 'Man in the Mountain'. It's one of those where you'll love it or hate it, but if you just listen, you might be surprised!!

I have been a fan for over two decades and have attended their concerts around seven times. Mark King, the singer, is also a bass player who employs a technique known as slap bass, which involves striking the strings with his thumb. Although it's not shown in this video, he often performs a solo during concerts, lasting approximately six to seven minutes, where he solely slaps the strings. I would love to hear any song from the albums "Running In The Family" or "Staring At The Sun" next. Please continue with the excellent selections!

This was the song that made me a Level 42 fan for life. I would later pick up the bass guitar after I saw the band in concert and what Mark King could do with a bass. You've got to see a live performance video--it was life-changing for me as a kid.

This is a very beautiful song, Level 42 has the voices and the instruments to make it sound so professional. They really have a big discography and you should give a listen to for instance: Love Games, Hot Water, Leaving Me Now, Heaven In My Hands, Running In The Family, .....Level 42 was a very loved and popular band in the 80's in Europe. Sadly, the band lost 2 guitarists over the years: founding member and first guitarist Boon Gould( 2019) and already in 1989 the one who replaced him at the time: Alan Murphy, who died of AIDS. Alan Murphy also played a lot with Kate Bush and on her albums as well, since 1980 already. They were very close friends. Alan Murphy was a very talented guitarplayer. The band dedicated a song to him called 'Take Care Of Yourself'. Kate Bush named Alan in one of her songs from the album The Red Shoes, Moments Of Pleasure.

My favourite song from Level 42 is "Heaven in my Hands". It's a great, upbeat, positive track. Lots of neat musicianship, especially as it features their (at the time) new guitarist Alan Murphy. He was a virtuoso guitar player and writer. But unfortunately he passed away from AIDS a year after he joined the band. He was also a big part of Kate Bush's 1980s albums, and he played on the first 3 Go West albums. All worth checking out👏👏👏

I'm enjoying the Level 42 discography trek you two are traveling on. Their ballads are just as good as their up-tempo material, carried heavily by the harmonies of bassist Mark King and keyboardist Mike Lindup, along with Mike's falsetto in the outro here. "Leaving Me Now" is another great slow jam with a killer piano outro by Mike (on the studio album version and live versions). "Take a Look" has another great harmony in its chorus.
