That flute lead in is so epic. They truly don't make music like this anymore. We were SO blessed to be teens in the 70s... and didn't realize just how fleeting the magic was going to be. In answer to your question Edit Foreigner is a British-American rock band, originally formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran British guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones and fellow Briton and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald, along with American vocalist Lou Gramm. Jones came up with the band's name as he, McDonald and Dennis Elliott were British, whereas Gramm, Al Greenwood and Ed Gagliardi were American. (From Wikipedia)

@@toddstevens13 Little known fact. Lou Gramm was NOT the "original" lead vocalist for Foreigner. It originally started with Ian Lloyd, but Lou had taken over as front man by the time they released the first album because Mick didn't like the chemistry. I found that out back in 05 when I went to see them (Sans Lou AND Ian, although Kelly Hansen did a pretty good job on vocals and it was him who brought up the trivia to the audience at the start of the show). I had already seen them back in 78 and again in 80. Lou absolutely killed it both times. He put so much into it that I was wondering if they were going to cart him off on a stretcher with oxygen on. It was pretty intense

@@TonyM1961 I did know that, as I was doing a record/concert review for my local paper at the time, so got all the scoop, lol. Smart move by Mick. I bet very very few knew that, and will appreciate you informing them. I have enjoyed them both with Lou in the olden days, and with Kelly and the rest of the guys now a days. Professionals both groups of musicians.

Some of their album cuts that weren’t released, in my opinion, were better both lyrically and musically than some of their hit releases. This one so chill.

I agree. This is actually an issue I have with the realtors I follow and ones I check out from time to time. They seem to do the same bands over and over yet only stick to the "hits", and don't get into the deeper cuts. Of course that lays at the feet of the people suggesting those songs. Don't know if they don't have any music diversity or just lazy. But along famous groups have plenty of great songs if you delve into them more deeply.

I believe this song goes much deeper than just a star or famous person ? It makes me think more of dreaming about your place in the universe as you look up into the stars ✨ I was at a Foreigner concert in 2000 at a outdoor amphitheater when before they did this song , singer Lou Gramm said that “ since the stars are out bright tonight , let’s all be Starriders together now “ …. And they performed this song. It really was more powerful listening to it live under the stars that night 💫✨

Getting into rock during the 70's had the 60's classics on the radio - mostly the 'British' invasion, but America had their own answer gaining ground with Aerosmith, Nugent, etc. Then along comes Foreigner using their writing and performing skills to get more from their songs than was typical at that time. Lou's vocals kept the bar high.

Y'all, I have loved your channel for a very long time and I'm so happy to hear this. This is from their very first album that came out when I was in like seventh grade. And yeah Lou Gramm was the powerhouse vocalist in Foreigner. I saw them live twice at that age and relatively small indoor venues and they just killed. I still think their second album Double Vision is my favorite album and so I don't know what you've done by them before, but check out Double Vision and definitely Blue Morning. It is so intense. It really rocks but it is also super melodic and atmospheric and Incredibly arranged. But I really like a lot of the songs off this very first album right before it, and this is one of my favorites. Everything about it is fantastic. I'm glad y'all reacted to this.

Foreigner first LP was great. After that, they were mostly uneven and filled with pop-songs and they became hit makers. After this first album they could have become more dynamic, but they settled into the mediocrity of formulated top 40 hits and they never sounded anything close to original again. They made money, but never made a better album. Or even got close.
