As with a lot of Frank's albums, Joe's Garage needs to be heard in it's entirety to be fully appreciated, as it was a concept album with conceptual continuity. It was like a Rock opera, equal to The Who's "Tommy" but with better musicians and a Mad Genius at the helm. I haven't seen you do any 'whole album' reactions, but you owe it to yourself to hear this work from start to finish, whether you react to it or not. It will change your whole perspective on Frank's music, and the social forces that drove his creativity.

A masterclass in arranging. Just three chords, the vocalmelody is the same all the way through but everything else changes including style of music.

Joe’s Garage is a concept album of a future world where music is made illegal. Zappa was a genius and a brilliant composer. You should check out “Inca Roads” 👍

Zappa has a lot of different wacky styles that take some adjusting to. He did like around 60 albums, and over 100 if you add the ones after his earthly exit. But he was one of the best musicians around, and he had the best studio musicians. Like Steely Dan. 'Inca Roads' is a must. It has everything.

Context. What you listened to was 6 minutes of what is really a 2 hour song, because the songs all flow together to tell the story of Joe and how music ruined his life.

Joe's Garage is a very weird double album, a kind of rock opera. All of the songs are part of one long piece, and the narrator (The Central Scrutinizer) tells the story that connects them. Frank Zappa put out a lot of music, over 50 albums in his 25-year career, and none of them sound the same. More people are familiar with his instrumental "Peaches en Regalia", which is a great song.

Frank started his own recording studio. He only had the best musicians in his band. Not just multi-instrumentalist I think he played them all. He was highly influential even influencing Pink Floyd. There is a video of him with the band. All but him was tripping and they were showing / swapping techniques. Apostrophe has some excellent guitar work. You might give the song Nanook a listen. But it's a song that runs into Saint Alfonso pancake breakfast and they should be listened to together. Two of his older albums I had a soft spot for was We're Only in it for the Money, and Absolutely Free. 🤠🐂

At LAX the airport pa system always broadcasts.....The white zone is for loading and unloading. It about the passenger pickup and depart lanes. The song is the beginning of the story of a rock bands adventures. You really gotta listen to it straight thru. It s a masterpiece.

You need to listen to "The Central Scrutinizer", which is the intro to the album, and segues into this song. Then listen to "Watermelon in Easter Hay", a great instrumental. 🤙😎 "On the Bus" is also a good instrumental jam from the middle of the album, so you could add that between the other two...

Frank Zappa!! If you haven't guessed, he has some of the craziest lyrics but his guitar playing is phenomenal! Brings a smile to my face every time I hear one of his songs...and some of his song titles are hilarious like, "Don't Eat the Yellow Snow" , "Jesus Thinks You're a Jerk" and let's not forget "Broken Hearts are for Assholes". My favorite songs by him are "Watermelon in Easter Hay" and "Muffin Man". He has said that Steely Dan is one of his favorite groups, which I found surprising. He truly was a genius.

What is simple on the surface is wildly complicated...the best for listening to multiple times. Instead of getting sick of his music, you'll hear something new every time. Who else can mix The Ventures with Parliament Funkadelic and The Troggs and make it cohesive and enjoyable?

Inca Roads (live) from the same recording as Montana is phenomenal. The claymation during it is distracting on first listen but, if you can, look past that and just listen to the music.

You MUST listen to this album start to finish. The Central Scrutinizer (the muffled voice you heard at the start and end of this track) will be there, every step of the way, to explain everything to you.

Soon you will be dancing to....The White Zone Is for Loading and Unloading Only - mechanical, repetitive corporate "music/instructions". In the storyline of the LP, music has been outlawed. Joe ends up in jail. You should listen to Watermelon In Easter Hay", Joe's last (imaginary) guitar solo.

Wow! You are just hilarious and I really enjoy to watch your reactions to Mr. Zappa! I really hope you will react to ”THE YELLOW SNOW SUIT” (4 songs) from the album APOSTROPHE’. That will probably make your eyes pop out and steam start to burst out of your ears! Great reaction.👍

Zappa wrote thousands of songs, none of which are remotely similar to any others. Think about that. As for this song, it’s an intro piece to an epic critique of the consequences of censorship in the music industry. One of rocks first thematic releases. Also one of Frank’s finest pieces of work. I hope to see more Zappa reactions here. You seem to like it.

Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention never really had a #1 hit or really any radio play at all. Mostly college students finding the weird appealing. We're only in it for the money for "different" in extremis.
