@@Templarofsteel88 I believe if you check interviews, Till (who I'm a big fan of), was certified before the accident, but not careful. They brought in Nikolai Sabottka of FFP (a pyro design firm), to professional the shows up. Since then they hire regional designers for each tour, as most bands would. I believe if you check, Wonder Works did the North American shows just before the pandemic. Like most businesses in life, concerts look like one thing from the outside, when really they're collections of contractors, with the band being the promoters main contractor. Then lighting, costumes, makeup, media, trucking etc. etc. They are huge operations often running three simultaneous stages for major groups on huge tours.

I have worked many a Rammstein show in the US and one of the things I love about them is how cool and kind they are to the local crews. That being said, another of my favorite things is their contract for a show, literally, says "No fire, no show." The shooting of teh fireworks over and back across the crowd is live. You can see it in any live video of their shows.

Indeed, but remember that technicaly most french people are from germanic, acendancies. Some parts of France teritories went from german to french domination overtime like alsace or loraine. And that even franc was a germanic tribe. We fought a lot each other. But we share some blood. And we recognise each other as celtic based people. The only thing is that rome was more implanted in France than in germany, which turned the langage and maners into something more latin and civilised. But we're still barbaric people in our minds. World champion of strikes. And f.. y... to the power, supposed to bring us down. Liberty or death is the barbaric way. And every people that shares that way of life is our brother.

I really think that the added effects just cheapens the real effects. I'm ok with the slow motion shots but not the stuff added in post. Also the hectic music video editing just distracts from the live show experience. If you enjoyed the crowd engagement in this piece, you might want to take a look at "Ich will" from the Hurricane Festival in 2016. There are versions where people have put subtitles to the song into the video, the original one doesn't have them I believe. As for their official music videos, I highly recommend "Deutschland" (full version, it's a little under 10 minutes), "Angst" and "Zeit". All those videos have the option of turning on auto-translated english subtitles, which are surprisingly good, I highly recommend to turn those on so everyone can follow along to what is said because it's quite important in all of them.

I really enjoyed your reaction to this piece. The words "Du Hast" are taken from German wedding vows. The song describes the two stages of a relationship. The first half is "du hast mich" meaning "you have me." So it is about two people in love and beginning their marriage. Things of course change, and the play on words comes out in the second half of the song when it changes to "du hasst mich" (du haßt mich) which translates out to "you hate me."

@alberich3099
@alberich3099 Жыл бұрын
@@jdsim9173 no yes but no. The literal meaning is Du hast NOT du hasst. One is oyu have one is you hate. The translation of you hate me is WRONG. It ebvcomes apperant when you listen to the song in german and not only the "du hast" part. It builds up to Du hast mich gefragt, und ich hab' nichts gesagt. In this instance you hate me makes no sense, as it would be translated to you hate me asked, and I di not answer, whereas in the proper translation (from their lyric booklet in the single) is: You proposed a question and I did not answer. However, that is the fun with the lyrics. It can be phonetically be understood to mean you hate me as du hast and du hasst are pronounced the same. This lead to the wrong englsih translation. But if you take tha phonetical similarity together with the underline sound and idea about marrige, the du hast becomes du hasst, just as Rick said. It is failour to answer the question which led to the hatred. Storywise it tells the story of someone askeing the(!) question. Which is the frist refrain. Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet, treu ihr sein bis alle Tage (Do you wish to be faithfull to her untill death parts you). This is answered by Nein (no). Which leads to the vers Du, du hast, du hast mich, again written as hast not hasst in the booklet. However with the play phonetically you can verymuch now understand that the build up to the refrain can (and in my mind must) be understood as du hasst mich (you hate me). So no your shared translation is wrong it absolutly butchers the "pre-refrain". The original states. Du, du hast, du hast mich, du hast mich Du hast mich gefragt, du hast mich gefragt Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab' nichts gesagt The wrong stranslation states You hate me to say, and I did not obey - which not only gramitally is absolutly wrong (something Rammstein is rather precise about in their language as they don't modulate language to fit the narrative, but they change words a left over from their time in the GDR where they had to be very careful what words to use) but also wrong with respect to the information. They change the You have asked me, and I did not reply to You hate me and I did not obey.

Sorry, but I got the story of the song from a German friend when I lived in South Korea. He worked there for BMW. He was raised in East Germany like the band members. The English version of the song which they have sang in the past, is not the same as the German version. I will go with what my friend shared with me. It was almost 20 years ago, but I remember the conversation well.

When artists make English versions of their songs, they usually have to change the lyrics substantially to fit the melody ..and often, like in this case, some things in the original just doesn't translate - something we often see in movie subtitles in foreign movies. Things like wordplay; "hast" is "have" but phonetically it's the same, "hasst" = hate, which probably were their intentions.
@BlackMai85
@BlackMai85 Жыл бұрын
Till is playing with german words. That's the play with "du hasst mich" but there comes more "du hast mich ... gefragt" that's the declination of "you've asked me" Also the play with "bis der Tod uns scheidet" (until death separates us) and "bis zum tod der Scheide"(until death of the vagina) 🧐 He's a poet and everyone can interpret anything in the lyrics 🥰 But translation is hard. Cause of the play with the words.

If you listen to any Rammstein song with headphones on and listen out for individual parts each member does a fantastic job, but if you listen to what the keyboard player adds, he is a genious musically. Till on Vocals is amazing.

I wouldn't say this is a typical Rammstein song, but it was their first breakout hit in 1997, and about the only one to get mainstream radio play in the US. I think the band has greatly improved their skill, their songwriting, their creativity over the years. For an intense experience, you can look at 'Deutschland', a rather disturbing look at German history, and it asks how can they be proud of their country, when they've got so much darkness in their past.

First thing I wondered is why the hell is she listening to Rammstein. Then I remembered why you are my favorite music reactor. You embrace, critique, and teach people not to judge music that they are not necessarily into. Du Hast for Rammstein is what Enter Sandman is to Metallica, or Closer by Nine Inch Nails- its the song that brought it to the masses which the purists of each band dislike.. This song is such a feast of techno, industrial, metal, and rock and visual aesthetics .

Their song "Engel" live at MSG would be another good one to react to for both Till's voice and the show. For non-metal and non-Rammstein reactions, The White Buffalo would be someone worth checking out. His performance of "The Whistler" live at the Guitar Center would be a decent starting point to see the range of his voice.

They also make great music videos. Watch "Deutschland" from 2019 (also a bit more recent than Du hast) for great vocals, a massive video and make sure to get english subtitles, text ist important with this one. (even the automated subtitles turned to english do quite a good job in this case).

I remember the first time I heard this the video was on MTV at the other guitarist in our band's house, and his ancestry is French Canadian, and he was asking me what the lyrics meant. I didn't know a lot of German at the time. "I can't really tell if he's singing "You Have Me" or "You Hate Me", he might mean both." "Oh yeah, that's perfect." he replied, and laughed. Later on, I saw the official song title. Turns out Till plays with words like that often, I've found Rammstein to be a good band to study the lyrics of for getting better at understanding German and a few of its nuances.

(I love the reaction this Vocalyst Coach reacts to these. She would be worth taking to a live concert like this. She would have fun, and would not be a boring person to bring along...) -All Heavy metal or rock or glam bands(bands out of ending 70's more common 80's and up, Rammstein is out of early 90's), audience participation is a tradition, namely on songs that are well known top list songs. Not only is it very highly common, but considered traditional....

Even if you weren't a fan of their music, you could enjoy their stage shows. They are second to none. Also, this is industrial metal, which is a sub-genre that includes an electronic element. In Rammstein's case it is called Neue Deutsche Härte (New German Hardness). Which was coined by the German press after Rammstein released their first album in 1995. This is also their most recognisable song, as it is easy to follow and acts as a gateway to the band.

Rammstein is one of those groups where you don’t go to a concert, you to an experience. The pyros are live and what looks like grease they have on their bodies is actually fire retardant. Another term you may not have heard of when describing Rammstein is Industrial Metal. Really big in Germany.

At the beginning of their career they called it "dance metal" themselves. In Germany it is mostly categorized as "neue deutsche Härte". Edit: really loved how you pointed out that this song is not as monotone or "easy" as it appeaers. It would not be such a success for decades if it where.

The pyrotechnics of Rammstein shows is insane. I've been front of stage crew to several of their concerts. To avoid getting our hair burned from the intense heat right at the front of the stage we all had wet hair and wet caps on. Those that had long hair tuck it into the cap. You also had to wear a turtle neck to avoid the hairs on the back of your neck from searing. I tell you, you sweat more than doing a marathon, just being a crew to their shows. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to actually be on the stage, and trying to perform under those conditions. Oh, and there's nothing "added" to the video. It's all live. All of it.
