Funkadelic’s 1971 masterpiece “Maggot Brain” doesn’t have one bad song on it. Next up you might want react to “Super Stupid” for something that will get you MOVING.

Asia & BJ, you'll love Funkadelic's "One Nation Under a Groove" and Parliament's "Tear the Roof off the Sucker (Give Up the Funk)" !!! Parliament and Funkadelic were both George Clinton led groups. Parliament often had great bass player Bootsy Collins on the songs.

In fact they were the same group, recording under different names for two record labels.

Should be noted that the music of Funkadelic's first four albums was very different than the sound of "One Nation" Parliament. Listen to "Red Hot Mama". Thats the funkiest song ive ever heard. Much moreso than the Funk/Disco of "One Nation" era. Not to bring it down. I love the Mothership period. Glen Goines! Holy Shit! I just think that albums such as "America Eats..." are overlooked. Ive been listening to that album for years and still have not heard everything on it. Its an incredibly busy album. ok im done.

Hi Guys, I'm in my 60's and I appreciate you discovering music in my era. There are hundreds of hundreds songs out there I know to discover and I am sure lots of suggestions. Well add one from me to your list. 1977 "Mother’s Finest". They were a cross between R&B and Rock. The song "Baby Love" and "Love Changes" were 2 of my favorites. I will keep following you 2. Keep us old folks entertain. 👌

You're playing my tune! Yes, Funkadelic/Parliament is a funk psychedelic monument. Ice Cube treasures the moment he saw the Mothership land in LA. Ice Cube would later have George Clinton on his own album. My three favorite rock groups are Led Zeppelin, The Miles Davis Electric Band from 1972-1975 (albums and KZbin bootlegs), and Funkadelic/Parliament. Parliament had the Horny Horns (Maceo Parker and Co. from James Brown plus Bootsy Collins). P-Funk drummer, Tiki Fulwood is considered top 10 drummers of all time. I love the bass player up to this album. Once George Clinton met Bootsy and George got The Parliaments name back, the line-ups continued with Parliament handling the radio funk and Funkadelic continued as the more rock component. Parliament's new line-up showed up on the album 'Up For The Downstroke', a classic album, in 1974. Can you tell I love 'em? ;) Thanks again Asia & BJ!

Saw the Funkadelic on the "Underwater Motor Booty Affair" tour. 1978. Could not imagine that you could dance and groove at a concert. Suburban white kid obsessed with Zeppelin and Aerosmith. "Brides of Funkenstein" opened up for them. Changed my worldview.

Hi I just very recently discovered your channel (as in within the last few days). I promptly subscribed. 👍🏻 We all know that there are many “reaction” channels and it seems that new ones are appearing every day. That said, I have really been enjoying your channel - far more than most “reaction” channels. Why? Your reactions demonstrate a more serious, intelligent, and articulate encounter with the subject matter. Truly. Also, as someone who has been around a while (longer than it feels) and who has lived through a number of musical eras, I still continually search out new music, or old music I’ve missed, or just music I’ve forgotten about. I believe music is a powerful force in our lives and our culture. So when I see people find new music that they like I feel like a new dimension has been added to their lives. Seeing you all discover and enjoy new music just feels good. Keep it up! Great stuff! Thank You!

Here's another suggestion "The Staple Singers - [Live] I'll Take You There" they were an American Gospel, R&B, and soul Group. Roebuck "Pop" Staples, the patriarch (Head) of the family, formed the group with his children Cleotha, Pervis, and Mavis. Yvonne replaced her brother when he was drafted into the US Army. They have quite a few big hits, and The Marvelous Mavis was also a very successful actor and civil rights activist. They made an impact in film and culturally. If you have ever watched the series on Prime "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" it is based on the somewhat true story of Mavis Staple's life story. What I love her voice...it's incredible, how she can use her voice like an instrument, and also be able to sing "sang". Simply Magical Stuff Oh...if you've reacted to "The Band with The Staple Singers" you will have already seen them (reference)✨✨🔥💖🤗🎶

Also, watch Summer of Soul, the movie, and it comes into perspective. I have to see that movie at least once a month for amazing energy never captured before or since. It's the Harlem Cultural Festival 1969! Sly Stone, Stevie Wonder, I fell in love with The Staples Singers and Gladys Knight and The Pips! Sly Stone's performance gave me goosebumps. The interviews of the attendees is fantastic and the artists who performed get to see it for the first time in 50 years! Put together by Questlove. Such a great concert and film regarding the era. A slice of history that needs to be seen to really appreciate Black culture. :)

Parliament/Funkadelic were the premier Funk bands of the early 70's. You can do the "hits"..."Tear the Roof Off the {Mother} Sucker", "Peanut Butter", "Flashlight", "P-Funk".....however, Motor Booty Affair's, "Aqua Boogie" has IMHO a groove like no other.....just something about that drop!

The song "Can You Get to That" by Funkadelic is a cautionary tale about the consequences of relying too heavily on material possessions in order to find love and fulfillment. The narrator reflects on their former life, noting how it was filled with material possessions they thought would bring satisfaction. However, they soon realize the emptiness of this approach and learn the hard lesson that "the debts you make, you have to pay". The chorus encourages listeners to ask themselves the question, "Can you get to that (real emotional fulfillment and joy beyond material possessions)?" Ultimately, the song serves as a reminder of the importance of living with intention and finding joy within oneself, rather than relying on external sources of joy.

Seeing George Clinton and Parliament/Funkadelic in concert can be a life/mind changing experience. Done it four times. George INVENTED Funk, and is the Godfather of all things Funk. Best show was 1996 in Central Park NYC with the Mothership Reunion. George, Bootsy Collins, Diaper Man, and about twenty-five other people on stage at the same time. CRAZY, CRAZY, CRAZY!!!

I agree to disagree with you. I went to the Landing of the Mothership thru Trombipulation concerts between 1977-1980. Those were the peak years when then all got along and real stars were alive. Also The Brides of Frunkensten, Sly Stone and Philpe Wynn were on the ticket.

"When you base your life on credit and your lovin' days are done, checks you signed with love and kisses later come back signed 'Insufficient Funds'" - that's what you heard. Maggot Brain was unlike any other Funkadelic album (I think that was because their affiliation with Parliament and George Clinton hadn't happened yet). Another cut from this album that is worth a listen is "Hit It And Quit It".

No, it was the same slate of musicians. Clinton led both groups, but they used the names originally for different styles of music, Funkadelic had a distinct acid rock sound and Parliament was a soul/funk band.

That's George Clinton man. There is no way its a straight forward song about his bank account. In those years his lyrics were all metaphors about life, death, spirituality, sprinkled with a little Buddhism. Listen to "Biological Speculation" (Great song for a reaction vid). And be sure to check out "Good Thoughts, Bad Thoughts" (wouldn't be good for a reaction vid). A lot of people dont know George was a fantastic poet.
