Geoff and Kathy built the tomb of Balin, son of Fundin themselves at home, before spending a whole day on the setting up of the setting. Kathy also incorporated the book Gimli and company found in Moria. Attentions to all details.

As a Tolkien fan, this makes me happy.

Regarding staging on this - Kathy was heavily responsible for directing Geoff where to look and when each Geoff should sing. She stood by the camera and directed him with hand signals because each part was short and so difficult for him to remember where to look to give a realistic impression of each dwarve watching the others. About the actual set, Geoff built that ‘tomb’ himself, but I believe those fallen columns belonged to Layne’s studio PattyCake. Eli was responsible for the lighting for this one. Geoff often asks him for help when the lighting gets complex.

It actually was a poem from The Lord of the Rings. The song was not in the movies.

The music for it was written by the group Clamavi De Profundis. Geoff used their song as his starting point for his arrangement.

Additionally, in the books, the song is sung by Gimli in Moria at the tomb. Hence Gimli begins this with the ghosts of the dwarves from The Hobbit fading in (and eventually out at the end). One of the changes Geoff makes in his arrangement is his use of sounds and his change of tempo from funeral dirge to a more medieval bardic tune when we get to the part about the heyday of the dwarves royal seat. We get little medieval flourishes and less water dripping with the beginning of forge sounds and more instruments. As well as the pickup of the drum beat. Later, as the lyrics tell it, the forge sounds go silent and the drips come back. In the end, Gimli is left standing alone - no longer imagining the past.

What tremendous work by Geoff, Kathy and others. Such a rich and truly beautiful performance. How does he still surprise us?

Yes! Masterfully created by a super dedicated and talented person and his friends and family. And it's a stellar piece. I don't know much about LOTR but there is enough world-builing for me to understand the meaning. Geoff's arrangement and vocals are extraordinary.

Thank you guys for another great reaction to Geoff. His voive is so mesmerizing when he harmonizes with himself. I think he would look amazing with the one second from the left with dark hair. I wish he would grow one like that but he says it would show too much gray & he would look too old.stay tuned for Voice Plays new Halloween cover very soon. He will be very scary. I know Layne shows fear.

This one has Gimli of Lord of the Rings in it as well as the 4 that you are familiar with now. They make a ghostly appearance of yesteryear. Geoff and Kathy did a video on Kathy having major hearing loss shortly after they married.
